@XanderMcGuire7 The AFL must have had the nudge from the Federal Government to go and visit. Australian Football is an Australian past time, other countries won't care for it in any significant way, no matter how many wasteful trips

Andrew Dillon is en route to Mumbai. He says the trip is primarily about growing Australian football at grassroots level in India - where it is currently played in 11 states - while also meeting with international broadcasters and working on engaging better with the Indian diaspora in Melbourne. He hasn’t ruled out a game in India down the track - but it’s not an immediate priority. He says Richmond and GWS are the teams that have expressed interest in being involved with India in the future. He speaks to @7NewsMelbourne tonight.

A massive fan of the incredible turnout for Day 1 at @TheAdelaideOval but not a fan of this incredible level of littering on the historic hill, super hot day or not

@StKFootball Constitution didn't oblige meeting to be held at convenient time to members. Marked up version on website. It should be at a time more convenient than during business hours for voting members in my opinion. Regardless whilst club has an AFL licence...

Received a few texts re: the AGM time (10:30am), complaining it’s hard for members to get to. I do like our current board, but the lovely days of it being a friendly meet and greet with fans are over. Andrew Bassat was almost out the door last year before the closing remarks 😸

St Kilda had arguably their worst decade ever in the 1980s. Yet were *third* on the overall club membership tally by 1990 🤯 Trailed only Collingwood and Geelong (on the back of their extraordinary 1989 GF effort. Always had that big, latent supporter base waiting to emerge…

Our plan to reduce violent crime is clear: Serious consequences when kids do the wrong thing - and strong intervention before they ever get there. We know the drift towards violence begins long before a child commits a crime. It begins when they slip away from school, from support, from the people who care about them. When they stop feeling seen - and start feeling like the only people who care are the ones pulling them in the wrong direction. That's why long-term change comes from stopping crime before it starts. Reaching kids early. Pulling them back before they're lost to a life that hurts them – and hurts others. Because violence is preventable. Not inevitable. And that's exactly what the Scottish and London Violence Reduction Units proved: when you step in early, you can change the whole story. It worked overseas to reduce violent crime over time - and we're bringing it to Victoria. A new Violence Reduction Unit will bring together early-intervention and crime-prevention program across government – and build new ones to close the gaps kids fall through. And through it, we're already backing the programs that work: connecting young people with lived-experience mentors who've turned their lives around, and putting Early Intervention Officers in our schools, to keep at-risk kids engaged, supported and on track. This is prevention – and it works.

Nothing matters more to me than the safety of Victorians. Safety in their home, at the shops, on our streets. I've met with victims of crime. Heard how their lives have been shattered – how the fear still follows them. Every story different. Every story the same: Too many victims. Not enough consequences. Right now, young people are committing violent, brazen crimes without any thought for who they hurt. So, we're drawing a line. A firm one. We've already toughened bail laws, banned machetes and delivered more police on the beat. But there's more to do – especially when Victorians don't feel safe. Adult Time for Violent Crime – so children who commit violent crimes face adult sentences in adult courts, meaning jail is more likely, and sentences are longer. Life sentences for youth gang recruiters – because dragging a child into a life of violence is child abuse. And new laws to crack down on crimes against workers. Because no Victorian worker should ever have to fear for their safety at work. If you assault or threaten a worker in a retail store, hospitality venue, shopping centre, on public transport, in taxis or rideshare or someone who's delivering goods - you could face up to 5 years jail. This week, we’re focused on consequences. Reinforcing boundaries. Making it absolutely clear: if you choose violence, there are serious penalties. These are the immediate steps to tackle violent crime and keep Victorians safe. But we also know this: long-term change comes from stopping crime before it starts. Going all-in at the community level - reaching kids early, keeping them on track, pulling them back before they’re lost to a life of violence. That’s what prevention is all about - and we’ll never stop doing that work. There’s more to come.

What a shambles at Oakleigh. The power has been off at Warrawee Park since Wed after, according to @SubbiesCricket, Oakleigh Chargers failed to pay the bill. It was disconnected. Oakleigh CC fixed up the account but the power remains off and the Oaks' home game has had to moved.

@StKFootball A huge advancement for the Club, 100%. The community awareness and use of Moorabbin is continuing to grow. An asset for the suburb and surrounds.

@saintjct I think the Bulldogs have done it much better. There’s clearly a long-term goal to get the low-drawing interstate games to the Whitten Oval, which can also hold significant community events. Still, what we have is pretty good considering our plight a decade ago.

This is a pretty compelling reason why we can’t stop developing Moorabbin and the surrounding precinct. The club did REALLY well to get back to our spiritual home and build the DF Centre, but it’s already time to start thinking about the next steps.

@StKFootball For what it is worth as a current local I would love nothing more than the ground to be developed to the extent it could host interstate teams.

@saintjct It is worth noting Moorabbin always had a substantially larger built-up footprint than what exists today (yes, I have pics…) I think a happy medium can be found. I hope we can also develop some residential property nearby for young players, as is the norm in other sports.

@StKFootball Remember it in full swing will, I explain to my kids the car park for the football ground is now where they ride their bikes. Moorabbin as a training location for players is a real incentive as so many footballers find their way to East Brighton, Bentleigh, etc.
