You need to ask another adult for permission to go to a doctor's appointment.
If your child is sick, you need to ask another adult if it's okay to leave early.
If you want two weeks off in August, you need to submit a request 3 months in advance and hope nobody else asked first.
You are a grown man asking for permission to live your life.

HR: We lost the employee today.
Manager: What happened?
HR: He resigned immediately.
Manager: Over a desktop background?
HR: Yes.
Manager: That makes no sense. It was a simple policy issue.
HR: It was not simple to him.
Manager: He changed the company wallpaper to a family photo at the beach.
HR: Yes, and when I asked him why, he said it motivated him during long hours.
Manager: Personal images dilute brand immersion.
HR: It was a desktop background, not a public campaign.
Manager: Rules are rules. Company devices should reflect company identity.
HR: He told us it was not hurting anyone.
Manager: That is why I reset it remotely and restored the company logo.
HR: And then you updated his file with “potential loyalty drift.”
Manager: I was documenting a concern.
HR: He understood it differently. He felt the company had a problem with basic humanity.
Manager: It was just a background.
HR: Exactly. And if even that much personal space is treated like disloyalty, employees start to see what kind of culture they are in.
Manager: How did he resign without a back up job? That's a red flag.
HR: When employees leave without even having a backup job, it is usually a red flag about the company, not the employee.

Millennials watched their parents lose everything in 2008. Then got handed $100K in student debt. Then got called entitled for wanting a living wage. Then survived a pandemic in our prime years. Then got priced out of every neighborhood we grew up in. And y’all really wonder why we’re not okay? We’ve been in survival mode for 20 years straight and nobody even noticed.

France made this wastefulness illegal cause it’s cruel and only causes more waste issues. Any food market or restaurant over 400 square meters has to donate all their good unsold food to charities and are fined if they do anything like this. That law should be applied everywhere

An American showed what his local Krispy Kreme does with unsold donuts at night. Straight into the trash. After private equity took over, the price of a dozen climbed to $22. And instead of selling them cheaper… They’d rather WASTE the food than lower the profit margin.
