Everyone needs to understand that the capitalist class would rather destroy all life on Earth, including themselves, than give up their money or power. This is not hypothetical; fossil fuel companies have already shown how far they are willing to go to protect their interests.

Insane how 3 deaths from Hantavirus brings more attention to Western media than Zionists killing +2,870 civilians in Lebanon.

We learned from COVID 19 that oil is worthless in a society without consumption, healthcare has to be public because health is public, 50% of jobs can be done from home while the other 50% deserve more than they're being paid, and that we live in a society, not an economy.

One part of the travesty of the Filton 6 actionists’ trial and retrial that has received less attention but is very important: Rajiv Menon, King’s Council, barrister for a member of the Filton 6, is being persecuted on a wholly unprecedented charge of contempt of court, carrying a punishment of up to two years imprisonment, for mentioning legal history and principles of law that allow juries to make independent decisions on conscience that Judge Johnson ruled out. In the first trial’s closing statement to the jury, Menon pointed out the case that established this principle from 1670 and quoted the public plaque outside the Old Bailey (the central court in London) commemorating the case. He also reminded the jurors six times that the judge could not direct them to convict. The jury exonerated all the defendants in that first trial. Now they have been retried and convicted on some charges. It sounds like Rajiv Menon is being punished for being extremely good at his job and for explaining the actual law relevant to the rights of the jury that this establishment judge close to the UK police and security services unethically suppressed to secure a political conviction to protect Elbit Systems. It is hard to avoid the conclusion that the Judge Johnson set up the rules and judgments precisely to engineer a conviction to circumvent the propensity of juries to acquit actionists. Then he plans to sentence them under extremely harsh terrorism laws by manipulating unjustly what jurors could know. Rajiv Menon initially disrupted that plan in the first trial. So now the judge and state are going after him. We must support Rajiv Menon, a fantastic and principled barrister, and the actionists against the UK state’s punitive crackdown on those using democratic rights to protest and stop the Israeli arms industry from facilitating war crimes, illegal occupation and genocide. The corrupt and complicit political establishment in the UK has shown themselves willing to evacuate rights to free speech and assembly, jury trials, press freedom and a host of democratic rights for all citizens simply to protect Israel’s impunity and their own complicity in the genocide. Support Rajiv Menon for defending pro-Palestine actionists and condemn what the UK courts and injustice system have done to jury trials and democratic rights!

Unfortunately I think maturing as a woman is realising that misogyny is so ingrained in everything and quite literally impossible to avoid. It's in our media, it's in our light hearted conversations. It's in the expectation that your mum will have dinner ready. It's the man staring down your shirt on the train. It's in the jokes you overhear at the pub. It's that one line in your favourite TV show. It's your male relatives sitting down after Christmas dinner. It's the conversation you have with a 'well meaning' man at your hospitality job. We're tragically used to it.

Israel has wiped out 39 villages in South Lebanon and destroyed 40,000 homes. 39 centuries-old historic villages entirely erased from the map. In just 60 days. This is ethnic cleansing. This is terrorism. And not a peep from the complicit “international community”, of course.

How the fuck are people on minimum wage in the UK meant to survive alone? The maths just doesn’t work. Take home pay for a 37.5 hour week (because nobody's paying breaks anymore) is around £1,700 after tax, national insurance and pension contributions, but rent alone somewhere cheap is around £800. Add £220 council tax, £350 utilities, and at least £70 a week on food, and you’re left with about £50 for the whole month and that's before transport or anything going wrong. Minimum wage doesn’t even cover basic living anymore.

It is truly unbelievable that in the UK, a doctor is more likely to lose their medical license for opposing a genocide than actively participating in one.

BREAKING: The Israeli naval vessel that abducted the 180 Sumud Flotilla crews off the coast of Crete (an act of piracy and a gross violation of the Law of the Sea) is intend on victimising two of them: Saif Abukeshek, a Spanish citizen of Palestinian origin, and Thiago Ávila, a Brazilian citizen who has distinguished himself with repeated attempts to break the illegal, genocidal, Israeli blockage of Gaza. Unlike the remaining abducted members of the Sumud Flotilla crew, which the Israeli navy disembarked in Crete, Saif and Thiago are detained and bound for an Israeli prison. This is a double violation of International Law: First, Israel abducted them illegally at sea. Second, Israel is now transporting them, violently, illegally, to one of its notorious prisons. Meanwhile, the Greek government is cooperating fully in Israel’s criminal behaviour, effectively surrendering its search and rescue obligations and conniving with Israel to victimise the brave crews of the Sumud Flotilla who are steadfastly, through their activism, defending International Law as well as the verdict of the International Court of Justice which has clearly and unequivocally declared Israel’s continued naval blockade of Gaza and its occupation of the Palestinian territories illegal. Through their complicity and their silence, the Greek government, the European Union, the mainstream media, the West more generally, are flouting, indeed they are trashing, their supposed, much publicised, ‘Western values’. Let us all demand: · The immediate release of Saif and Thiago · An end to Israel’s criminal behaviour in international waters · The termination of Israel’s illegal Gaza blockade · That the Greek government and the European Union cease and desist from lending logistical and moral support to Israel’s genocide in Gaza and its ethnic cleansing campaigns in E. Jerusalem and the West Bank

Are you listening @Keir_Starmer? More than 3,200 lawyers including 300 top barristers and retired judges have called on you to drop your plan to restrict the right to trial by jury. 30 organisations representing victims of violence against women and girls have written to the Justice Secretary urging him against curtailing the right to jury trials. Trial by jury is a cornerstone of our democracy and an essential safeguard against authoritarianism. The government has no mandate to restrict it - a move which will put us on a path toward authoritarian justice. It’s not too late for the government to listen to the thousands of voices of victims, judges, barristers, other legal professionals and academics who oppose this blatant act of constitutional vandalism. @TheCriminalBar @RobertBuckland @Kirsty_Brimelow @KarlTurnerMP @thebarcouncil @Anna_Soubry @lawsocgazette

🚨KEIR STARMER IS SPEARHEADING ONE OF THE MOST SHOCKING ATTACKS ON CIVIL LIBERTIES IN MODERN TIMES The government has absolutely no mandate to do this. Labour never mentioned in its manifesto that it planned to undermine and restrict a fundamental cornerstone of our democracy - the right to trial by jury - a move which will place us on a path toward authoritarian justice. But it’s not too late for the government to listen to the thousands of voices of victims, judges, barristers, other legal professionals and academics who oppose this blatant act of constitutional vandalism. CONTACT YOUR MP NOW and ask them to step up and protect this cherished and precious cornerstone of our democracy

I don’t think I’ve ever in my life seen a more deranged, perverted, intentionally dishonest campaign than the one trying to convince people that protesting genocide puts Jews at risk. In no universe does this make any sense. “Don’t protest against the genocide of Palestinians because that puts Jews at risk of harm.” I mean what the actual fuck??? 2 million Palestinians are slaughtered, displaced, maimed, starved, denied care, chewed by rats as they try to exist in tents pitched in rivers of sewage & we have to shut up about it IN CASE JEWS ARE HARMED? Get fucked. Seriously. FUCKING GET FUCKED
