Good luck with that, lol. We have wind farms and solar in Texas, in some areas. But we're far more spread out, and you'd have to look at those ugly ass wind turbines all the time. No thanks. They're hideous and once you factor into the equation their costs to manufacture in terms of energy outlay as well as disposal, no thanks. I'd rather have more of the small, less dangerous nuclear plants.

TX vs UK. Power lost per mile in transmission is the problem. The UK is more densely populated, so people are closer to any solar farms that might be there. Solar vs. wind does not matter, you still have to get the electricity to the end user. And solar and wind electricity are not transmitted as efficiently as loading up a truck with fuel or a pipeline with natural gas, or even nuclear.

Texas has much more sunshine than the UK and vast amounts of space, so ideal for solar. If Texas were a country, it'd already be the fifth biggest wind power producer in the world.
