@mariezo34 Marie, I've been concerned for many years as to how the leafs play their young players as well as how they utilize their farm system, the Marlies. They tend to use 3rd and 4th line veterans instead of giving players a legitimate chance to show what they can do.

It’s remarkable that Cowan made strides under such disastrous circumstances. The way he was handled this year, you’d think the organization was trying to torpedo his development.

@mcclxskey If they do a proper search and take their time with each candidate, see what their vision is and how they'll execute, it has a chance of success. Either the president or GM needs to have experience.

Data + Florida = Omg Sunny Mehta's the guy. And maybe he is, but the conviction that he’s our guy is wild. We know so little about him. I could only find one interview with him - it was neither damning nor impressive. What we’ve heard is intriguing, but I couldn’t tell you how fit he is for the job. There really aren’t any candidates with a novel archetype. Fletcher, Burke, Nonis, Lou, Dubas, Treliving - what haven’t we tried? You just hope, whoever it is, they come in with a plan we can get behind and execute it effectively.

Just because the Shanahan-Dubas combo was dysfunctional doesn’t mean another president-GM pairing can’t succeed. If you’re going to bring in a green, data centric GM, I would feel better if you also had someone with more hockey experience to support that GM.
