Today many Finns celebrate independence, not understanding that our independence ended on 1 September 2024, when U.S. troops entered our country under DCA. We have lost our independence one time before. In early 1941, troops of the Wehrmacht entered our country in preparation for Operation Barbarossa. It began on 22 June, 1941, with troops attacking Russia (Soviet Union) from Finnish soil during the night of the 24th and 25th. After the Moscow Armistice was signed on 19 September 1944, Russian troops entered our country. They left on 26 January 1956. After that we were independent (free of foreign forces) until September of last year. Then the Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) took effect, and U.S. troops entered our soil. The DCA was signed by DefMin Antti Häkkänen, and it passed @SuomenEduskunta unanimously. In October 2024, a U.S. researcher contacted me to ask whether Finns understood that they were not independent anymore. I said, "No, they don't." Today, I ask you to remember our veterans who bled and died for our country only to be surrendered by our current politicians.
