Alright, they must have changed recently since last year when I checked. M-f nonstops are 2pm depart houston, arrive lubbock 455pm. That was two tickets for $700. I prefer just driving early in the morning, you'll save money and arrive roughly earlier or a bit later and save so much money and frustration lol. Now leaving lubbock to houston is great, the travel time to the airport isn't anything like Houston, it's well worth it. Both are 1 hr 40 min flight time. Problem is with Houston. Id have to leave my house an hour at 11am to allow for traffic to get to hobby and get there at least three hours early for an 2pm departure. Then there's the whole seat issue with southwest, gotta pay out the ass to get extra legroom lol. Ill just enjoy the Texas countryside on the road trip.

I'll RARELY ever fly in-state Texas to any city from another city, I honestly have never seen the point. I've flown between Lubbock and Houston about four times since 2004, the rest of time I drove the 8-9 hour trip because unless it was a direct flight, the return on investment of time and money wasn't worth the couple of hours saved in flight travel. Below is a table of the major Texas cities, that if you just drove, you wouldn't have to worry about the chaos at the airports, and when you plan out how much time it takes to get to the airport and then land at your destination, you likely could have driven there faster than flying.

This is a long read but it may be worth your time. Last year we had an elderly couple from Lubbock leave a relative's house in the panhandle, heading home, on Thanksgiving & they made a wrong turn & ended up in NM, found deceased days later. It was heartbreaking. I had a dose of reality today. I locked my keys in my car at Costco. I'd opened the hatch & laid down my keys & shut the hatch. And poof, I'm locked out. I went into the #MyNissan app & of course it didn't like my password. Then it locked me out of the app too! I called the Connect lady who could not let me back in app & could not remote unlock. She sent AAA & told me it would be 90 minutes so I went back inside to do what any Costo customer would do. I ordered a hot dog. I'd taken 1 bite & the AAA guy was there. He got into my car way too easily & I was on the road. I got home & straightened out my password issue & I was in app. Then I called customer service to ask questions. The app has an "unlock" feature but it has to be close to the key fob to work. Guy was not sure if it work from back of car. I'll have to test drive that. I also asked if I was lost & incapacitated if they could find me. They can if I push the SOS button but otherwise they don't have any idea where I am if asked. I thought I could. So then, I called Apple & checked on their end. Most Iphones (I have a 14) have option of 'share my location' & a couple of others settings that will help people find me if I'm lost. I have to remember to turn the feature on when I hit the road. Made me feel better. I'm glad I made calls today & got my info straight & prepared for any future road trips. I have a 2025 Nissan Rogue & figured it had all the bells & whistles & I was wrong.

@TomSmallwood @flatland_sports At the NYNY hotel coffee shop two breakfasts of eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast and coffee will run you $50. Sure there are cheaper options off the strip but a lot of people don’t take their cars.

@samramtx @flatland_sports First, never jacked up the room rates when pac 12 was there. Also, if you want a nice $50 breakfast sure Vegas has that but also plenty of nice breakfast options far cheaper.

The Vegas arguments especially. "I want it in Vegas so I can go and do stuff instead of watching basketball that I could do literally any other time of year"

@TomSmallwood @flatland_sports Have you seen the way they jack up room prices during the NFR? Same thing would happen during a big BB tournament. And $50 plus tip for two breakfasts is not what I call reasonable.

Security at Houston Hobby! I've never seen anything like this. 1.5 hour wait to check bags, 4-5 hours for regular security. We missed our flight after waiting in Clear line for 2 hours, pre-check wasn’t open originally & randomly opened at shift change & we sprinted to that line.
