This is an opportunity for @Ojukwu_Bianca and @NigeriaMFA to start a necessary conversation with these foreign missions. The ask is not complicated. @UKinNigeria is already leading on this; the standard exists and it works. I wish this also fell under @BTOofficial and the Ministry of Interior. Because they never miss opportunities like this. Fingers crossed on immediate actions.

🇩🇪Germany is strengthening its partnership with 🇳🇬Nigeria through a forward-looking talent exchange initiative, shifting beyond traditional aid to a strategic alliance focused on skilled labour mobility. At a recent ICT and Labour Mobility conference hosted by AHK Nigeria and GTAI, key stakeholders explored opportunities in digital skills mobility 🖥️, remote work ecosystems 🌍, vocational partnerships 🎓, and innovation programmes 🚀. With Germany facing workforce gaps and Nigeria experiencing a growth in its pool of digital talent, both nations are working towards collaboration for long-term co-creation and shared growth. #TalentExchange #NigeriaGermany #FutureOfWork

It is technologically impossible for the Nigeria Democratic Congress website, as presently constituted, to register 10 million members in 24 hours. In fact, no single website in Africa has the capability to register 10 million distinct, data-intensive users within 24 hours. Registering that number of people in 24 hours requires extremely intensive server capacity, especially when processing biometric, biodata, or biographic information. Even ChatGPT took 40 days to register 10 million users. And X (formerly Twitter) has never registered 10 million new users in 24 hours. About the only website on Earth ever to reach 10 million registered users in 24 hours or less is Threads, and they only did so because it is owned by Meta (Facebook), which automatically integrated users who were already registered on Instagram and Facebook. Perhaps political parties can be more cautious in their claims if they want to be taken seriously by the public. Reno Omokri Ambassador Designate to Mexico. Gospeller. I travelled to a town in Southwest Nigeria, last month. The hotel where I lodged had a gym. I went there to workout and I was surprised to see that the receptionist/secretary was so fat and big. She doesn't look like someone who has worked out before or who is interested in working out. Then, it hit me. Proximity is not the same as access. You can be very close to something and not benefit from it. It's like all these people who follow rich men but never see any benefit beyond occasionally driving the man's car when he sends them on errands.

@DrOlusesan @Ani_Kayode When all some people focus on is what’s wrong about the country, they are blind to what's good about it. This is an "obsession with bad news" and it shapes how they think and feel. Classifying it as a mental health crisis, can change the approach to it.

@Ani_Kayode If the news had listed Ghana as part of the top contributors to global real GDP while Nigeria is projected to have negative growth, you all would see GDP as meaningful and a talking point to talk down on the country. This is a sadist behaviour and a clinical mental health case.

He’s wrong about what GDP is, but correct that Nigeria contributing 1.5% of global GDP is meaningless. It reveals almost nothing about Nigeria’s economy or her people’s welfare. It’s also important to note that Nigeria accounts for almost 3% of the global population.
Son of David@DrOlusesan

A guy dismissed Nigeria’s 1.5% contribution to global GDP as meaningless. Asked what GDP means, he said, “Is it not about OPEC?” Seeing our faces, he added, “Well, I don’t know and I don’t want to know.” To bail him out, his friends switched the discussion to football.

State of origin exits in the constitution and it’s very clear, you’re from where your father is from, and your father is from where his own father is from. You’re not a lagosian, you’re a mere resident and that will remain your status until the constitution is amended.

@HRH_bankeoniru @Wizarab10 We must not conflate a “Lagosian” with an indigene, who are the Awori, Egun, Eko, and others who established or have long been in the areas of what we now call Lagos. I think the state govt should include this history in the Social Studies curriculum for pry & secondary schools.

@HRH_bankeoniru @Wizarab10 Being Lagosian is similar to being a Londoner. A Lagosian is someone who lives in Lagos, was born there, or is socially and culturally formed by the city. Indigene of Lagos is an ancestral identity! The rule of thumb to claim ancestry is around 5 generations back (150–180 yrs).

France has blocked an EU initiative that would have allowed Ukraine to use a European loan to buy British made Storm Shadow cruise missiles, according to The Telegraph. Paris opposed easing procurement rules, insisting that funds from the new EU defense loan should be spent inside the bloc and prioritize European industry. Documents cited by the paper say a group of 11 EU states backed more flexibility, but France rejected the proposal. The dispute centers on a 90 billion euro loan, part of which is meant to finance arms for Ukraine. Ukraine estimates it will need 24 billion euros worth of weapons produced outside the EU in 2026, including air defense systems and long range missiles. #Ukraine

@ifedayo_johnson @zeesol16 Does it mean he got married to the lady in absentia? If this is the case, that is grounds for suspecting a “proxy marriage.” Such marriages often fail to gain legal recognition, and deemed fake. That could be the reason for the visa refusal and ban.

A female friend in Nigeria got COS but her visa was denied because her husband arrived UK in 2023 on Student Visa but didn’t complete his studies - his visa was curtailed. He also didn’t leave the UK since his visa got curtailed neither did he move to another visa/route. They weren’t even married as at the time the guy arrived here in 2023 o. The lady didn’t even include the guy as her dependant in her visa application. Never heard of this before and if I didn’t see proof, I wouldn’t have believed.

@BashirAhmaad A census that the Census Tribunal invalidated! The FG used its might to discredit the result of the “state census” conducted alongside it. It was challenged by Lagos State in court, the state won, but you know what the federal might is.

Whether Kano or Lagos is the most populous state in this country, I honestly don’t think it affects anything of real consequence. Still, it's worth noting that Kano is the most populous state in Nigeria according to the last national census conducted in 2006. This is not an assumption, presumption or projection, it is an established fact. Until a new national census formally states otherwise, Lagos remains the second most populous state after Kano.

@gboyegaakosile @jidesanwoolu It is also worth noting that the Lagos–FG monetary ratio is roughly 5:1. In other words, Lagos contributes about five times more than the allocation it receives. And considering its population size, Lagos deserves a special status in Nigeria.

Dear Abdulmalik, I’ve had to do a bit of searching after my attention was drawn to your tweet-a reaction to the very audacious, bold and progressive N4.237t budget proposal of Governor @jidesanwoolu of Lagos State. I realised that your background (education) may have been a factor in your judgment. For your information, our activities in Lagos are governed by best in class system including the individuals that drive every process. That’s why the State has continued to grow from where it was in 1999, when President @officialABAT was Governor, to where it is today. That said, below are direct response to your tweet, just to educate you about budgeting and performance: Public finance deserves accuracy, not guesswork. Here are the facts: 1. “52% capital financing” - incorrect term, incorrect claim. What Lagos has is 52% capital expenditure, which is standard for global megacities. Lagos’ 52% sits comfortably within global norms (Johannesburg, Nairobi, Cairo, São Paulo and Gauteng typically spend 40-65% on capex depending on project cycles). 2. Lagos does NOT rely on federal subsidies. 2026 Revenue: IGR: ₦3.12T Federal Transfers: ₦874B Total: ₦3.99T Recurrent needs are fully covered without federal support. The deficit is just 6% - one of the lowest in Africa. 3. Lagos can easily service its debt. 2026 Debt Service: ₦527.3B Debt-service-to-revenue ratio: 13.2% Global benchmark: ≤30% (IMF/World Bank) Lagos is at less than half the safe limit. There is zero basis for suggesting debt distress or “cooked books.” 4. Claims about 81% performance being driven by recurrent spending are false. 2025 Actuals (Jan–Sept): CAPEX: ₦1.238T (60%) Recurrent: ₦818.6B (40%) Performance was driven by infrastructure delivery, not overheads. 5. Growth is driven by internal productivity, not subsidies. Lagos is the most revenue-independent state in Nigeria with a 22% on FACC dependence 6. Lagos’ fiscal framework is one of the strongest on the continent. Backed by the LSDP 2052, MTBF, MTFF, MTEF, outcome-based budgeting, TSA, IPSAS, digital revenue systems, and annual audits. This is why: Lagos accounts for 29% of Nigeria’s GDP Lagos led FDI inflows for years, no subnational (including FCT) ever came close until Q1 2025 Lagos hosts 73% of Nigeria’s startups Lagos’ GDP (PPP) is $259B, Africa’s 2nd largest city economy No cooking of books. No fiscal crisis. Just disciplined, globally aligned public finance. Lagos remains committed to transparency, sustainability, and infrastructure-led development through the 2026 Budget of Shared Prosperity.
Abdulmalik Gajam@Officialgajam

Lagos future will be in jeopardy having a capital financing of 52% and recurrent at 48%. Without federal government subsidy and investment intervention there is no how for them to keep up. If your revenue cannot serve your debt servicing there is no how for you to grow but to only keep cooking your books. By the way let someone not throw the idea of 81% performance of the 2025 budget because if this is how you divide your budget then obviously recurrent will help the performance hike. In lay man’s language “karyace” federal government zata subsidizing nasu.

Today, 18 November 2025, marks exactly 141 years they began Berlin Conference in Germany. I just remember I mentioned it during this session today. I explained how the Yoruba ancestral homeland spans across West Africa. Berlin Conference divided Yoruba communities across modern national borders. They ignored our shared language, traditions, ancestry, and spirituality.
