How Unai Emery is not in this, with all the challenges faced in the summer, having to eek more out of a starting XI that has barely changed in years and, really, should have grown extremely stagnant and declined, is startling. He has maximised more out of his squad than anyone.

@kcchief81 Its a really good point and shows VAR hasn't been thought through because their should be a clear law which is either goal stands, Pen to West Ham and disallowed goal or replay corner. Not zoom in on one specific foul.

No skin in the game for #whuars but NFL have offset or offsetting penalties rule. Rice commits two clear fouls on the play, Raya is also clearly being fouled twice. VAR should review and if multiple fouls then goal should stand.

@OllieHolt22 It was a foul on David Raya. There were clear fouls by other players. I don't know of a law which makes a foul on David Raya priority over the multiple other fouls. All these can be true at the same time.

@peterrutzler Is there a law that the goalkeeper is like the King on a chessboard though? Needs to be protected above all others. If there's multiple fouls then multiple fouls should be reviewed and offset each other.

They need to review the wrestling masquerading as marking from corners — in general. But there's not much disputing that foul on the keeper, it's clear and obvious.

Man U were a bottom half team, Spurs flattered to deceive between Europe and midtable. The rest were hipster teams in London & the South Coast. Leeds were in Div 2.
