FAREWELL LUNCHEON: The Finance Ministry today held a farewell luncheon in honour of the retired Acting Director Budget,Ishmael Mweru Magona. Magona attained mandatory retirement from public service on 3rd November,2024 and immediately handed over office of the Director Budget as guided by the Uganda Public Service Standing Orders,2021. Commissioner Hannington Ashaba is now the new Acting Director Budget. Officiating at the luncheon,State Minister for General Duties @henrymusasizi1 on behalf of the Political Leadership of @mofpedU appreciated Magona's dedication to the service of the country. "Throughout his illustrious career,Mr.Magona demonstrated excellent knowledge of the government policymaking process and budget reforms,budgeting procedures and practices,planning and expenditure management," said the Minister,adding that he has been a team leader and mentor to many staff over the years. The PSST @rggoobi said Magona was very instrumental in driving the achievement of his agenda of repurposing the budget,adding that he was also one of the people who spearheaded major reforms in planning,budgeting and decentralization of frontline services to the people of Uganda. "While soft-spoken, Mr.Magona was very candid in giving me advice and exhibited a high level of professionalism," said the PSST. On his part,Magona said passion for work kept him going until the time of retirement. He urged the Ministry to continue building the capacity of the staff. " Mentorship,training and teamwork are very critical for success," said Magona. The luncheon was also attended by Hajj Yunus Kakande,the Secretary Office of the President,Budget Transparency Initiative Partners,Magona's family and friends and Staff of the Ministry.

Mr.Magona was one of the contributors to a book titled " Uganda's Economic Reforms" which provides insights on the sector-wide approach and sector working groups. His legacy in revolutionizing budget practices and contributions will continue to benefit not only @mofpedU but also the broader public sector. Congratulations Mr.Magona for finishing well. Enjoy your retirement.

I am happy to report that the Senior(Mr. Ngaruye Ruhindi) has steadily recovered and has since reported back to his law practice in Mbarara. We're organising a Thanksgiving next month (29th December) at our local church in Ibanda in honour of his healing. We're also fundraising to complete the church building(St. James Catholic church) which he was helping build before he fell ill. @ugwildlife So this crocodile was born in 1979🙆‍♂️. It saw Idi Amin in power 🙆‍♂️

Although the crocodile has now been moved away from humans, we cautioned the locals to remain vigilant as there could still be other crocodiles lurking in the waters. We commend our incredible capture team for yet another awesome job well done! #ConservingForGenerations 5/5

Last week, our Problem Animal Capture Team swung into action to relieve the people of Kacwankumu landing site on Lake Albert of a giant crocodile that had for long terrorized fishermen in this area. #ConservingForGenerations 1/5
