@straits_times No other country in the world can stoop to the level of Bhikaristan. Which other world leader would tweet a drafted msg from Trump and claim credit? They have self respect, the same can't be said about Sharif. He's out with his begging bowl every day.

@ranvijaylive Never before has an entire ecosystem been rattled by a movie! Your blind hatred doesn't allow to see that Shahbaz forwarded a drafted msg from Trump. If that's a masterstroke in diplomacy then there's nothing left to say.

I hope Iran's leaders will finally realise what human decency looks like, let alone friendship. Iran always sided with India against Pakistan, and considered it its friend. But it was Pakistan that stopped the war, while Indians ignored guest Iranian sailors drowning next door.

Woke up to a different kind of morning. Pakistan brokered a 2-week ceasefire overnight. The world responded instantly. → Strait of Hormuz reopening planned (carries 20% of global oil and gas flows) → KSE-100 hit circuit breakers, up 8% intraday → S&P 500 futures +2.5%. Nasdaq +3%. Nikkei +4.8%. Kospi +5.6% → Bitcoin briefly past $72K → $3.4 to $3.6 trillion added across global markets in hours All as a result of one proposal from Islamabad. Genuinely proud morning to be Pakistani.

From Troublemaker to Pacemaker By Rauf Klasra A major disaster was averted last night. Both Iran&America needed face-saving,which Pakistan provided&subsequently Pakistan's image as a peacemaker gone up in world eyes. There comes a stage in a fight when both sides get tired but their egos don't get tired and keep them fighting. Both warring parties want to end fight but they can't because they fear people will taunt or ridicule them. People will say, “you got scared, you turned out to be cowards, you surrendered”. Iran stood on the pretense of a 2500 year old civilization and bravery that was preventing it from ceasing the war, while America's status as the world's sole superpower was in danger. Iran did not want to appear weak to its own people, and America did not want to appear weak to the world. Otherwise I think the war would have ended long ago. Now both were stubbornly standing for their own "honor and ego" and same time were looking for face-saving so that no one would think they had lost. Usually social pressure which is beyond your control, forces you to continue that fight and you keep fighting just to prove your bravery to people and meanwhile you keep looking around, hoping that someone will come and stop fight , so that your honor can be salvaged and you can say”If you hadn't stopped, I don't know what fate would have befallen on my enemy”. At that time, you need a close friend or relative on whose shoulders you can put all the blame of ceasefire and boast, if he hadn't stopped me, the world would have seen what I might have done to enemy. Such comrades are a blessing who take blame on themselves so that friend's ego is saved and fight is stopped, otherwise the majority are those who make videos on mobile phones to share on social media for views. Pakistan played same role because both Iran&US wanted to get out of war. They needed face saving so both could boast they were standing firm in battlefield no matter how much damage they were suffering. Despite war fatigue and losses, both did not want image of their countries and leaderships should be tarnished in the eyes of world, no matter whatever the cost. At that point, Pakistan came forward and offered its shoulders to both of them and said "comrades, you can blame us by saying we would not have ceased war but Pakistan came down on our plea. It was very difficult for us to agree. Pakistan even touched our knees/begged. Pakistan even referred our old relations and friendship, so then we had to accept it, otherwise the world might have seen our bravery”… Egypt, Turkey, and China also play an important role in all this. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal General Asim Munir have played a huge role and Pakistan has emerged victorious, otherwise we were and would have been the biggest loser after America and Iran. The world was suffering. Apart from this, I have another great joy. Till today, Pakistan was known as a trouble maker all over the world, but for the first time, Pakistan has emerged as a peace maker. We heard and suffered a lot over the years. We have been accused of every bad incident anywhere in the world. At every airport, suspicious eyes have been raised towards us upon seeing our green passports in our hands. We have been taken to side or we have been double searched before boarding because we were from a country with little credibility. But after May War, our situation has changed. When I traveled abroad last year,I saw some respect emerging for first time in those very suspicious eyes. No one looked at my passport over and over again at immigration counters, nor did they scan me over and over again. For the first time, I considered myself someone important or world considers us important. Otherwise, in these years, I had always seen Pakistan&Pakistanis facing inquiries. Congratulations to Pakistan& Pakistanis on this beautiful journey from once troublemaker of the world to peacemaker. (Translated from Urdu)

Shehbaz Sharif proved himself the man who can handle all type of crises. he was handed over a drowning and defaulting Pakistan and he brought it to feet in no time. A war was imposed on him from Indian side and he walked out a victor. Another war was imposed on him from Afghanistan and he walked out a victor. The world was endangered with WW3, UNO seemed helpless, NATO was out of game and he jumped in and walked out as the Peacemaker. پاکستان ھمیشہ زندہ باد

My information & insights on the whole development have widened since writing this tweet. I let this tweet stay as proof of my misjudgment! Mistakes should exist for record & reference! Information now at my disposal makes me believe that Pakistan Army’s role has only been that of a “Helpless Messenger” that has repeatedly been used to relieve President Trump. Before text for Shahbaz Sharif tweet arrived from Washington, they were clueless & were preparing for the US Attacks to wipe out “Iran’s Civilization” - the decision to call off attacks is entirely “Made in America” and has to be understood in the context of American debate & Iran’s hard resistance till the 11th hour - I did a usual Pakistani sin of believing in the sincerity of Pakistan Army leadership. Feeling of pride for your motherland never dies - but it often takes you to wrong analysis. I let this tweet stand as proof of “Error of Judgement” @ryangrim @HNadim87 @ErikSperling @Hoffman8Jon
Moeed Pirzada@MoeedNj

Whole World is relieved..! Pakistan Army has proved itself as a responsible, smart & competent institution on global stage! They have outperformed Indian Establishment despite their many limitations! They Demonstrated an ability to engage with multiple players in the region, won the trust of Iran, counseled Saudis, angered Emiratis, and maintained access to POTUS(Trump)! Amazing performance! But there are challenges ahead! Trump needed a deal to open Straits of Hormuz because without this, he looked like an abject loser after a disastrous war that has virtually destroyed Iran - a country of 92 million. Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE, Qatar & Saudi shattered for the first time. Israelis sitting in bunkers for the past 39 days! All for what? Pleasing megalomaniacs like Netanyahu, Lindsay Graham, MBS & MBZ? This war was never to stop Nuclear Weapons & Proliferation, it was to destroy Iran for their geopolitical interests (Netanyahu, MBS & MBZ) and in case of Lindsay Graham to feed his religious fanaticism! This war was not for America! But American power has been hijacked by powerful lobbies to shape their interests! Trump has been used. His politics gets nothing out of it; his political base is shocked, disappointed and in many respects traumatized! Next 15 days important! Iranian regime, its system & national spirit has survived but structure has been pushed back at least 25 years! Without a relief from US/UN sanctions, and some sort of Toll on Hormuz for Iran/Oman to help with reconstruction, Iran’s ability to recover is doubtful. But Netanyahu, MBS/MBZ & Lindsay lobbies will not let that happen! It’s not about Trump; it’s about them! Iran must commit not to ever develop Nuclear weapons, offer No War Pact to its GCC Neighbors, they should end US bases, and US should lift Sanctions getting in return full access for US companies to invest in Iran and Iran should commit buying US commercial planes, grains and technology! Iran should promise making some political reforms to give entry to reformers, dissenting voices & woken activists- nothing will work without ending Sanctions! This is the real fight for the next 15 days - to concentrate our minds! @HNadim87 @Hoffman8Jon @ErikSperling @ryangrim @MaxBlumenthal @clary_co

Since winning a Cricket World Cup was becoming more & more difficult so Pakistanis rather aimed for the Nobel. Absolute diplomatic conquest. Whether it fails or succeeds in two weeks or before that, we have done our part. Pakistan will be remembered as a State that held onto pragmatism & sense amidst nerve crushing chaos. The World counted on us for a hiatus & we delivered it. At least I’ve never seen such prominence of Pakistan on the foreign front in my entire life. Proud !!
