@iamkathambi Exactly. I fly KQ, I don’t like it, wish I had another option. I don’t like ET either.

We all say we’ll never fly KQ until we’re flying around Africa. Then you’re staring at a 6 hour direct flight on KQ vs a 14 hour flight on ET with transit in Bole…and you just crawl back to KQ 😂 Connecting Africa is KQ’s super power but they can’t seem to get it right!

The great African and Kenyan author and university professor Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o argued that celebrating English as a marker of intelligence or progress in Africa reflects a deeper problem of mental colonisation. In his view, English, like French or Spanish, is not an African language, and turning it into a measure of identity or superiority only reinforces the legacy of colonial domination. He pointed out that societies begin to normalise this mindset when people take pride in mastering a colonial language while neglecting their own. He also highlighted the troubling reality that many African children, and even their parents, can no longer speak their mother tongues, yet feel a sense of achievement in speaking English. For him, this was not empowerment but a loss of cultural grounding. He made it clear that he had no issue with using English, but insisted it should not replace African languages as the primary means of expression. If you can speak many global languages but cannot speak your own, that, in his view, reflected the enduring impact of colonial thinking rather than true progress. Even in jest, elevating English as the benchmark of intelligence or educational success entrenches a colonial hierarchy that devalues African identity and knowledge systems. It reinforces the false idea that proximity to a colonial language defines worth, distorting how societies measure progress and quietly eroding cultural confidence across generations.

Safaricom removed a perfectly working M-Pesa app and forced this ‘one app’ on everyone, for what? It keeps freezing, lagging, crashing, and can’t even search contacts properly. Now, after the latest update, I need a SIM card on my phone just to use an app in 2026?? Did anyone even test this thing before rollout? Nothing about this is better. Nothing. People are just enduring it because there’s no alternative. You can’t tell me I’m the only one dealing with this

@pgichangi @sholard_mancity This is the case when one is within Kenya. Once outside the country, the former app worked well. You will see the impact of this security enhancement that we did not ask for in your bottom line.

@sholard_mancity Hi Sholla, Apologies for the poor experience you have had. We are here to support you and improve your experience. What challenges are you facing with the app? The need to have the SIM card in the phone when accessing the app is a move to enhance your security

@sholard_mancity and seems the app requires the Safaricom sim in the app and running on data for the app to work. I deleted the app and so far 2 weeks without using Mpesa. have gone old school, using bank transfers and Airtel.

@HonAdenDuale @rigathi Gachagua is unfit for public office, and so is you Aden - the Grandmaster of corruption.

Kenya deserves leaders of integrity, not endless controversy. @rigathi Gachagua rose to high office under a cloud of serious corruption allegations involving billions of shillings. Even the courts have questioned the source of his wealth. But this story did not begin there. In 1997, he was dismissed from the civil service while serving as a District Officer in Laikipia over gross misconduct. A matter he has never fully explained to the public. In July 2021, he was arrested by the DCI at his Nyeri home over allegations of money laundering and abuse of office, tied to vast sums of money flowing through accounts associated with him. Even within his own family, disputes have spilled into the open. Relatives of the late Nyeri Governor, Nderitu Gachagua, have raised concerns over the handling of a multibillion-shilling estate. Claims that remain contested, but serious enough to demand clarity. Then came the unthinkable. For the first time in our history, a sitting Deputy President was impeached by constitutional institutions over violations of oath, divisive rhetoric and conduct deemed unfit for office. This is a pattern that raises urgent questions: Can we trust leadership weighed down by persistent integrity concerns? Can a nation unite under divisive politics? Can accountability mean anything if we ignore such a record? I have challenged the impeached former Deputy President to state clear facts and stand firmly on integrity. If he wishes to lecture the nation, he must be ready to answer every question, not just the convenient ones.

@Voice_Roy @JerotichSeii My app logged me out. Changed to safaricon esim to bring it back to life. Once I changed esims to the ones i use often, it logged me out. I have reverted to using bank for payment. I foresee less and less use of mpesa on my end. The old app worked.

The South African laws are literally super racist, plain and simple. It’s not complicated: imagine if the law was called “White Empowerment”, instead of “Black Empowerment”! People would have a seizure 😂 South Africa now has more anti-White laws than Apartheid had anti-Black laws. Think about that for a second … The current South African government has objectively implemented Apartheid 2.0. Shame on them.
