I don't know whether you remember. I was one among the first to repeatedly raise to government existence of both STT and long term capital gains are terribly unfair for investors. This goes against the commitment given in the parliament that STT was introduced only in lieu of capital gains tax. More than domestic investors, this hurts FIIs more. Adding salt to the injury, long term capital gains were further increased in 2024. I would have posted dozens of tweets in this regard tagging both Prime Minister and Finance Minister. As always, BJP IT cell started personally attacking me that I don't want to pay taxes. How many ever times I explained the logic, that many times or more I was personally ridiculed. For many reasons including our government apathy, FIIs are only net sellers for last many years. In parliament, we ridiculed FIIs stating that retail investors are good enough for us and FIIs are exiting a great market called India. I pointed out how even countries like Singapore and other developed nations give importance to FII money. BJP trolls said FIIs are losing opportunity to make money out of the greatest market in the world. Even if we are greatest, this arrogance is unwarranted. Arrogance would ensure we don't remain great. Now we are trying to see how to conserve forex by avoiding destination weddings, foreign vacations and so on. The elephant in the room is billions of dollars flowing out of the country every month due to FII selling. Instead of trying to address that major issue, we are focusing on overseas trips by a small percentage of Indians. Misplaced priorities. Our finance minister still do not the feel the need to call FIIs for an open meeting and address their tax issues and other concerns. We are absolutely tone deaf.

What TN has shown today, rest of India has been doing for decades. Hindu majority states of Rajasthan, Bihar, Assam, Maharashtra and even Manipur have had Muslim Chief Ministers. Hindu majority Andhra Pradesh, Goa and Kerala have given many Christian Chief ministers. TN is just a new entry to that old club. But the real question worth probing is: how many Muslim majority or Christian majority states have given any Hindu Chief Minister? Zero. Forget Chief Minister, how many Hindu MPs or MLAs have ever been elected from a Muslim majority or Christian majority lok sabha or vidhan sabha seats?? Next to Zero.

My appeal to PM Modi- In order to save petrol & diesel, please make it mandatory for bureaucrats, MLAs & MPs to use public buses and metro instead of large convoys. It will also be a good opportunity for them to experience world-class infrastructure they are building for us.

Our Most Hon'ble PM told us to save petrol & diesel by using public transport & use car pooling. Hon'ble PM also told us one year don't holiday abroad & don't buy gold. We will all stand by our PM, this war is not his fault but let him promise us, 1) BJP ministers won't travel in huge convoys with entourage! The union & state Babus will use public transport. 2) We won't purchase gold, but gold is used as a medium to hide black money by politicians, babus & judges so Hon'ble PM will go after that! 3) We wont go abroad, but nepo kids of Netas & babus who study abroad must be asked to come back & study in India & lastly 4) No more freebies like Ladli Behn & free LPG. JAI HIND JAI BHARAT!
