Identification of drought and heat tolerant tepary beans in a multi‐environment trial study - Barrera - Crop Science - Wiley Online Library acsess.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/cs…

@WilkerJen I'm glad to see that teparies are used again. There is still a lot of potential in tepary beans. The initial image appears to resemble an F1 if the female parent is a common bean, while the second one does not. It's important to note that all F1s of P.v x P.a are self-sterile.

Past breeding efforts against viral diseases in common bean have also had a positive impact on emerging diseases. Here, we identified a candidate gene associated with resistance to a novel virus threatening bean production @BiovIntCIAT_eng @MolecPlantBreed onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/tp…

The paper of my good friend and colleague @santicosbarrera is finally out.
He developed these bridging lines for common and teary bean breeding.

@McGillHaricots @opentrons Are you using a RT-PCR machine to run your KASP markers?
English

My undergraduate (😱🥳) student Marysia finished developing a protocol on our @opentrons OT-2 liquid handler to run KASP markers for screening lines for major anthracnose resistance loci. This is awesome because it democratizes high-throughput MAS.

@TheBuellLab @USDA_NIFA Awesome project, You should consider using already developed interspecific common/tepary bean lines to facilitate the cross between both species. Using traditional common beans to cross with tepary beans or vice-versa is a demanding task that requires time and effort.
English

Excited to be starting our new @USDA_NIFA tepary-common bean project with Tim Porch at USDA-ARS and Consuelo Jensen at Univ Puerto Rico to accelerate breeding resilience in Phaseolus species!
