@gmcuk I completely agree, perhaps those working in the NHS might consider how their language has impacted their Jewish colleagues since October 7th.

We are distressed by the racially and religiously targeted violence and civil disorder taking place in some of the UK’s towns and cities.
We recognise the significant impact these disgraceful acts will be having on doctors and other staff working in our health services, as well as members of the public - particularly those from religious groups or minority ethnic or non-UK backgrounds. Everyone has the right to come to work without fear of racism and it’s unacceptable that people should feel unsafe at work or at home.
We have a dedicated resource on our website that provides guidance for doctors who experience racism in the workplace, whether from patients or colleagues: #Experiencing-racism-in-the-workplace" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">gmc-uk.org/professional-s…

Awful. Israel is under constant attack from the north and the west.
Heidi Bachram@HeidiBachram
A rocket just hit a children’s football match in northern Israel and there’s reports of fatalities. 11 are in serious or critical condition. The target was a Druze village. There’s rolling news of Gaza. Will this be reported in the same way?

There has been a rise in measles cases across north west London.
The MMR vaccine is the most effective way to prevent the spread of infection.

@davieshpaeds @Xeon4f145d96s1 They do. Absolutely. But in lieu of that a non judgemental support outside work can be helpful when anyone is far from home and on their own. Here’s hoping that things will improve…..
English

@sarapittack @Xeon4f145d96s1 This is intended kindly and reflects well on you; and some people might like a sounding board - but I don't think most new doctors need a surrogate parent, they need respect and a better culture at work and in the wider related areas such as placement allocation & administration.

@benonwine Is this the most important thing you can find to say about a cabinet member? Would you say the same about a man. Grow up.

@thiswillstick Difference between number of constituencies and nos of people who voted.

@jonsopel calls this election the biggest political landslide he has witnessed in his lifetime.

@surbiton19 @antisemitism Rubbish. Many demos in Israel calling for the release of hostages, other demos against the government and huge demos re changing the law regarding the high court. I challenge you to go to a demo in Gaza, Teheran, etc against the government.
English

This is shameful.
Today is the first day of the Wimbledon Championships.
Attendees simply wanted to enjoy the tournament in peace.
Instead, they were forced to walk through a crowd of anti-Israel protesters shouting “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”, and other intimidatory chants.
The anti-Israel demonstrators who regularly take over our streets have repeatedly made it clear that they have no regard whatsoever for the general public.

I tweet quite a bit - but this one is different and perhaps the most important I’ve ever written
I hope it gets shared as much as possible, so new parents don't make the same mistake I nearly made (even as a dad of five, having worked in A&E for 23 years and someone who teaches about not missing a diagnosis because of cognitive biases).
Our 6 week old baby is getting discharged today from @TheAlexBrighton @UHSussex after receiving the best possible care for meningitis.
She is doing really well and as a family we can't begin to express our gratitude to all involved.
The day she came in, she was not herself but nothing which particularly worried us. But my wife did her temperature, and it was over 38C.
As she was under 3 months, it meant she needed to be seen in A&E ASAP. By the time we got to A&E she was really quite sick even though it was only 30mins after taking her temperature.
I initially dismissed her signs and initially even questioned why my wife did her temperature. I had a cognitive bias, twisting my thinking to believing she was ok because that is what I wanted her to be, when she wasn't- a positivity bias.
Please if you are worried about your new baby - be like my wife and not me, check their temperature, use your gut instinct and don't delay getting the help your baby needs. @M_R_F

You would think that there would be some kind of solidarity at Glastonbury with the murdered and traumatised Nova festival goers?
Hannah 🇮🇱 🥑@nice_cuppa
Glastonbury absolutely covered in Palestinian flags. No surprises there. Zero recognition of Nova except for one brave camper’s flag.

@iDrSunny @bedfordhospital Utter tosh. If Bedford don’t want Drs in training they should just say so.
English

Hi @bedfordhospital
Can you tell me how a PA, after a year of preceptorship, is at nearly the same level of skillset as a foundation doctor?
I look forward to the evidence you gathered before publishing this in 2021 and you can treat this as an FOI
