The greatest insights I got about myself and my messaging was through my haters They did an amazing job in calling out when I was cringe, weak, or misaligned with my mission No one has sparked bigger improvements than them That stands in stark contrast to the "friends" who "meant well" with their feedback and connoisseur-type critique No one has derailed and distracted more than the "friendly" negative types on the inside that gave backhanded compliments, and tried to "help" That doesn't validate nor justify WHAT the haters said or how they said it, BUT there is a deeper "WHY" behind their perception of me and their motivation to aim their negativity at me Exploring this "WHY" objectively allowed me to make a quantum leap in awareness Now, the cringe will never completely go away because (1) I'm a weird MF and (2) it's a good lever for engagement and attention BUT there's a difference in being cringe by trying hard vs being cringe because you don't give a fuck and are yourself And there's a difference in triggering people on purpose vs triggering them through narcissism, ignorance and ego With all the above realizations in mind; You will always have haters and people who pray for your downfall, no matter what you do. But their passion for hating you exponentially increases the more room for improvements you have. Meaning, there is a direct correlation between the obnoxiousness of an individual and the noise level of his haters. Read that again. This applies to any online persona you see on Twitter, YouTube etc. Once you understand this, you'll see it everywhere. This is not about winning the haters over, but rather understanding that they don't just obsess over someone for no reason. The very counterintuitive takeaway of all this is: (A) Measure the level of noise and obsession by your haters carefully. If there are none, you're not pushing the envelope enough or not setting a big enough goal. If they are very loud and persistent, then you messed up and became egotistical or uncontrollably obnoxious. (B) Critics close to you who "mean well" and don't passionately hate you, HAVE to be ignored. Completely disregard anything they say. The connoisseur-type entitled negative "friend" is the worst defector you will ever meet. Because neither you nor them are aware that they try to screw you and your business.
