Live Nation’s CEO Michael Rapino testified today. He was pressed about whether or not Ticketmaster’s fees have increased over the years. Rapino said he didn’t know. “You’re the CEO of the company … You don’t remember?” courthousenews.com/live-nation-ce…

Ticketmaster has long insisted it has no control over ticket prices. But internal records show just how dedicated the company is to pushing partners to approve price-surging tech, and how actively it uses them ticketnews.com/2026/03/platin…

Here is a fun one. While you waited in queue, requests were made to “slow” or “pause” the queue so teams could reprice tickets on @Ticketmaster Imagine trying to get gas and they told you to hold on and wait while they marked up their price.

@HeavyTank77 @Ticketmaster Honestly no clue, I know the fees are never just a flat fee unfortunately. Would make things easier. Very possible like you said maybe there was an adjustment lower and they didn’t change the fees.

@Ticket_Help2022 @Ticketmaster So the ticket is $10?? The "service fee" is maybe just a flat fee no matter the ticket cost? Or its the fee according to what the ticket originally cost and it doesnt adjust down with ticket price?

This is incredible. The fees are more than double the face value cost of the ticket. Not sure I have seen that before. @ticketmaster

@Ticket_Help2022 Honestly the prices are already below face value for many of their shows so it works out... Except LA but what did you expect with a 500 cap venue lol

@MarkHolum @GatoVlad3693 Pretty ridiculous if Jaime told him this because anyone involved in ticket distribution would know this is false.

They have this amp there that generally gets solid artists. Sure looks like that resale cap law is stopping people 🤦‍♂️. I would love too for anyone fighting for a resale cap to explain with dynamic pricing how anyone is supposed to enforce this law since there is no set face value anymore due to their greed.

You are right, most do not buy them and resell them on the same account most use consignment companies to sell through that you work with. However, you do know exactly which tickets were bought and immediately placed on Ticketmaster resale. It’s not very difficult to determine who bought an 8 pack of an extremely hot event with no cart timer and watch them put the tickets up immediately on resale to determine who’s potentially using a bot and flag or closely monitor. I totally agree with your assessment of enforcement by whom. But During a January 2023 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Live Nation President Joe Berchtold admitted that Ticketmaster had only reported one incident involving bots to authorities since 2019. How can authorities begin to go after bots and enforce the law without your help? Working together with authorities is the only way to stop them. Also if cases get brought up, it will slow and deter others down. Many resellers won’t touch bots because of the threat, how many more would stop if enforcement actually happened? Also how many developers would risk continue on selling bot access if they could get in trouble. Lastly, I am sure you know there is a crazy influx of European botters. They consistently just laugh about the laws and feel like they can not be touched. I actually think artists and teams are sacrificing long term gain for short term revenue. Prime example is TKO and their aggressive pricing for WWE and UFC. Also, how sustainable is it for lady gaga and cardi b releasing $800+ face value tickets. How hurtful is that to other artists when all of a fans disposable income will be used for one show instead of spread out for others? Isn’t it true you offer artists financial incentives to turn on TM Resale? I believe Dan Wall recently said that to congress. Won’t any leader of a publicly traded company who is not finding ways to grow also be fired? So taking away a source of revenue from Ticketmaster resale is a bad look for share holders and the board. I don’t think they’d like to hear profits are lower because bot usage is down and fans are happier. I really do appreciate the back and forth, I wish more corporations would engage publicly like this.

Your logic is fair. Unfortunately we do not in fact have every piece of information in real time and the bots/bad actors are much smarter than that. They don’t buy tickets and immediately list them on resale with the same account - for example. Tens of millions of account signup attempts are blocked monthly just trying to chase this type of activity. Also…enforcement? By whom? :) I know there is more to do. We will. But I will never accept this type of thing or willfully ignore it to make a couple of bucks. It’s shortsighted. Also, public companies IMHO sacrifice short term revenue all the time to play the long game. Concrete example - TM Resale is turned off at artist direction. That creates short term revenue “loss” but is the right long term decision. We support the artist, short term revenue be damned. Any leader over-solving for the current quarter - myself included - will eventually get fired. I’m not playing for next quarter. I’m mostly playing for 4-6 quarters from now.

Backstreet Boys Sphere show queue is 600,000 people. Seriously @Michael_Rapino this needs to be fixed immediately. @Ticketmaster is compromised by bots Fans have no chance against these queue bots. The system is entirely broken and being abused. Give everyone a fair shot.
