Hoping the messiah is a gamer and defensive midfielder. The opinions expressed here are my own and don't necessarily reflect those of my employer.

The decisioning last night didn’t go TFC’s way (arguably poor ref’ing)… what I’m finding telling is how quickly #tfclive supporters can get tribal if we have at least *1* common “enemy”. Will that “enemy” cover bad behaviour? Who do we blame next week?

I for one am not disappointed in the team tonight, just the result. Lots of players making a great account of themselves - Gilman looking sharp IMO. #TFCLive

I think the breaking news for most #tfclive supporters this week is how really, really… like a lot… Wingo has been paid for such limited contribution, and how the opposite holds true for Henry.

Up and down weekend for #tfclive. Nut bars like myself are up in arms for all the usual reasons… but the bigger concern for MLSE should be apathy for our local club when there’s no star power. Glad to see BMO sold out today, and I hope beer sales made up for a few things.

@JeffreyPNesker It’ll sell, and they know it. It’s a Messi souvenir IMO, not one for #tfclive . Feels more than a bit tone deaf given where we are right now, and I’m not agreeing with it, but they would’ve been planning these for months.

Whatever #tfclive do next, I would argue that they really, really need to examine “base” issues. Ex: What causes all these injuries? What are fans really disagreeing with that we can control and also advocate to change? And… how do we stop looking and sounding so apathetic?

Is asking for Fraser to be let go the right thing to do? Maybe. That won’t fix what ails this club, IMO. For me he’s the steering wheel on a broken engine. Systemically #tfclive feels busted, and hasn’t been “right” since Leiweke and Tim Bez were in charge.

#tfclive not getting that fans are in their limbic brain right now. We’re emotional, angry, feeling under valued and not listened to. I don’t think it’s right to yell at youngsters who bravely faced supporters last night - that should Pelley and Hernandez at this stage.

So much love to the @TorontoMedics and @MGHToronto staff today for their help with my Son today. I see you keeping it together under duress, smiling and working so hard to do the work of saints. I am in awe of you all, and you have my deepest gratitude and respect.

Also - maybe hot take. It’s amazing to host World Cup games, but I will be absolutely glad to have BMO Field back to relative normal immediately after and ditch all the extra everything. Game day hasn’t felt smooth for the past… while. #tfclive

You know what? Okay. All the people saying the team is decimated are right, and I’ll take 1-1 v. this San Jose team any day of the week. #tfclive

They CANNOT move the Vancouver Whitecaps. It’s a tragedy that American/Canadian sports teams are the only ones in the world who have to worry about their club moving. Could you imagine if Real Madrid moved to Mallorca? Manchester United moved to London? Inter Milan moved to Naples? It’s not fair to the fans that there’s a risk of losing their club. It’s absolutely sickening, and it shouldn’t be this way. SAVE THE CAPS

Mayor Ken Sim
Mayor Ken Sim@KenSimCity·
STATEMENT FROM VANCOUVER MAYOR KEN SIM: The Whitecaps have been Vancouver’s club since 1974. Many things have changed throughout the years: the players, the logos, the kits, and the stadiums, just to name a few. The one thing that has never changed is Vancouver’s love of this team. The Whitecaps are one of the top teams in the MLS, they were the runners up in last year’s championship, and they sit in the top ten of league attendance at an average of 24,000+ per game. While we understand that professional sports is a complex business, it would be a mistake for any team to leave a market with such a longstanding history and ready-made fanbase. The City of Vancouver has done its part to create a path forward for the team’s future here by offering prime space at Hastings Park for the Whitecaps to construct a new stadium and entertainment district. Now, we face the difficult part. BC Place is owned and operated by the Provincial Government. In fact, it’s the only stadium owned and operated by a government found anywhere in the MLS. In order for the team to stay in Vancouver, the Whitecaps and Province must sign a bridge deal that will allow BC Place to become viable in the near term while a new stadium can be designed and built. That's why today, we are calling on the team’s ownership to publicly and clearly articulate what they need to stay here in Vancouver, and we are calling on the Provincial Government to come to the table and make that a reality. To all Vancouver Whitecaps fans, to the @Southsiders, and to all of the supporter groups, we need you to keep the fight going. We need you to stay strong, and we need you to stay loud. Losing the Whitecaps is not an option. #SAVETHECAPS

@Mike_Leach1976 @JeffreyPNesker @smtavare I don’t think it’s the idea of 1 PM games… it’s the fact that #tfclive decided or didn’t think to push back on an absurd 9 in a row. There isn’t a reason for that. Yes, it’s never perfect, but MLSE has completely swung the pendulum one way.

@JeffreyPNesker @smtavare Ok, but a couple of years ago there were no shortage of complaints about evening games. The weather has kinda dictated playing in daylight because of the weird scheduling. They wanted to play at the warmest possible time of day, but I don’t disagree. I prefer evening games.

In a way I feel for #TFCLive These are Argos sized crowds. The weather for nearly all of these games has been terrible. The Gardiner is closed, I get it. The players deserve better, but MLSE has done this to itself.

@RedHatNoShirt @TouchlineTFC This theory has legs (pardon the pun). Recovery times for muscle strains on synthetic surfaces average 74.6 days, compared to just 43.8 days on natural grass. I don’t think this is it alone… it can’t be IMO - other teams have the same scenario.

Even with all these injuries, this team is sitting in 6th place. They’ve even dropped some points they shouldn’t have dropped, they could easily be in the top 3 of the Eastern Conference. I don’t know what’s going on, but this injury crisis NEEDS to be addressed. #TFCLive
