Added some basic cooperation between characters. It seems really simple, but it actually required quite a lot of work under the hood to keep the core architecture maintainable and easy to extend. #gamedev #indiegame

@zackontopx Thanks, it's all done using classic squash & stretch plus some correct timings.

@kaya_major9 I want to keep this behavior for friendly characters so they can cooperate not only with me but also between each other. It feels like adding life and friendship, and can help to build some kind of emergent storytelling.

@ButtSniffington I have few layers: 1. Common storage of “signals” in the world (shoots fired, some fell, etc.) 2. Agent’s list of “perceptions” — system which reacts to world signals and adds info to agent’s blackboard 3. Agent’s behavior tree with states which react to blackboard info

@derpyzza I need to make new design as soon as possible. Because while shooting them I felt like this…

Spent the last week working on character behaviors. They can now get curious and react to danger. Next up: cooperation between characters and damage reactions. #gamedev #indiegame #screenshotsaturday

@Jukebaum Nice idea, thanks. And probably it’s better to make it little bit slower. Since it’s not the main mechanics and you don’t need to switch fast.

@sashadyak that zombie game definitely lit up a few light bulbs when they saw the switch. I was like 'ooh we can do that!' In your clip: The animation to fps is disorienting if you don't look at the same direction. like in top down looking upwards is more natural to swap. Maybe turn first?

After long pause I've returned to work on project again and started with some shooting and feedback. For now it plays not so well, but at least I have a good base to work on. #gamedev #unity3d #indiegame

@AndrewNick21727 Oh it will be a big challenge for me. Since the character needs to be not only recognisable and readable, but also well animated to keep this style and overall vibe.

@LeonArtmann No, usually I prefer to use mine own realizations for things like this. Here I have two Cinemachine cameras, one is top-down following main character and the second one is inside of his body. So all the things (offsets, shifts, etc.) are done with usual Cinemachine setup.

@sashadyak ooooh are you using TopMountain's top down engine? if so, how hard was it adding new things to it, like the camera shift?

@_DeceptiveGames Definitely it's aiming. I need to implement some type of aim help since I want to make shooting more arcade style. Aim help will be configurable gameplay options for sure.

@sashadyak Coming back after a long pause and getting shooting feedback in place is a solid restart. Even if it is rough, having a playable base is a big step. What part feels most off to you right now?

@ColorTheBooks Thank you! I think I'll use it like additional feature but not the main one, it's definitely something nice to play with.
