I’ve always loved eating fruit, my parents rarely bought chips or candy for us, it was always the fresh cut fruit and we were always allowed to have as much of it as we wanted. Years later I still have good memories of the fresh fruit and I crave it often. Now that I have kids now too, they are the exact same way. I give them the option though, I always have at least 5-6 fresh fruit options but I still have some chips and snacks and candy. However I feel my habits are rubbing off of them. Even at a young age my kids were obsessed with our fruit bowl, I remember finding all sorts of fruits with a bite taken out of it, even bananas and mandarin oranges. Over the years they have gotten better at peeling the fruit which makes me happy, but I will always look back on my childhood and remember what my parents did for me. Fruit back then I imagine was much cheaper than it is now, however I don’t let that deter me, anywhere we go may it be here in the states or in Asia, my kids will now always go for the fresh fruit options, which in my book is a win win for us all, growing up, did your parents keep allot of fruit in the house too, was it canned or fresh? Or did you just have the typical sugary snacks to tide you over until dinner? I’ll do a follow up, my kid wants me to go and get him some water melon and pink pineapples.
