Trillions of dollars have been invested in private debt by retail investors, endowments, family offices, insurers, and pension funds in recent years. Don't expect any help from governments and central banks if we do get another credit crisis until one thing happens: spillover effects to the broader banking sector. The minute that occurs, central banks will slash interest rates and turn on the printing press. Until then, investors and end clients will bear the brunt of the pain.
