I would like to stand up for my old paper. In all the (justified) criticism of today’s headlines in other papers not enough credit has been given to the Hindustan Times.The very first word in the headline is Delimitation. ⁦

The bill: The Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026 The newspapers that toed BJP's line (and fell for BJP's electoral ploy, the very point of RUSHING this bill) and called it 'Women's Quota Bill' (or similar framing) and the newspapers that did not.

On the subject of newspapers' coverage of Parliament, here's how we at HT headlined the defeat of the government's bill linking delimitation and reservations for women.

No more ‘Tinku’, ‘Chhotu’, ‘Bablu’ or ‘Shaitaan’…. Rajasthan government launches scheme - Sarthak Naam Abhiyaan- to CORRECT ‘ inappropriate’ names. Only the Indian bureaucracy could draw up such a govt scheme of 3000 acceptable names. Acceptable names include ‘Akbar’, ‘Birbal’, ‘Vrindavan’. Amazing report in @htTweets today. By the way, Major Shaitan Singh, Paramveer Chakra winner and hero of Rezang La would have had to change his name if this scheme had been in existence then…..
