Today I attempted to get a flu test since my covid tests were negative. No urgent care taking walk-ins for URI symptoms. No appointments until Thursday at the earliest. Lines wrapped around the buildings. (1/🧵) #MedTwitter#FOAMed#hcw
@krishnadaasa@Azazello1313@clairlemon@SamHarrisOrg Supportive care =/= waiting for hospitalization need which was standard. “precautionary principle” in MCI because limited time for evidence based medicine to unfold properly… means repurposing drugs and not being censored to share best practices w your colleagues.
@Azazello1313@clairlemon@SamHarrisOrg I also treat lots of COVID-19 patients. And I could certainly make a lot more money if I pretended that the claims he was making about early treatment were true. But it’s not about money so much as it is about honesty and evidence-based medicine. He is outside of his specialty.
@krishnadaasa@ForexwebAU@clairlemon@SamHarrisOrg Virologist will rarely/if ever treat a patient directly. All he’s asking for is early treatment. Expert in virology maybe not, but internist/cardiologist treating patients daily. He says “treat the patient in front of you” ie keep out of the hospital where it’s usually too late.
@ForexwebAU@clairlemon@SamHarrisOrg How does that make him an authority on infection treatment? Jardiance is a diabetes medicine that can cause genito-urinary infections. Does that mean a urologist is qualified to talk about diabetes treatment?
