The UNSC meeting exposed Somalia’s contradictions. On one hand they speak of “unity,” on the other they openly advocate dividing Hargeisa, Borama, and Lasanod. This confusion weakens their case. The sensible path is to let Somaliland move forward and focus on fixing Somalia’s own challenges.

Recognition of Somaliland will strengthen regional peace, security, and stability. For over three decades, Somaliland has remained democratic, peaceful, and self-governing—unlike Somalia. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro), undertook an official working visit to Salaxlay District today, where he inaugurated a series of landmark development projects designed to enhance essential services and promote long-term prosperity for the local community. These initiatives, which form part of the Government’s wider development program, reflect Somaliland’s commitment to equitable growth across all regions of the country. Among the projects launched were: 🔺️ A new branch of the Somaliland Central Bank, to expand financial inclusion, strengthen economic activity, and support local enterprise. 🔺️ Expanded healthcare services, with the construction of a state-of-the-art laboratory and a dental unit at the Salaxlay District Hospital, ensuring improved access to quality medical care. 🔺️ Modernization of the Salaxlay Football Stadium, providing youth with facilities that foster talent, recreation, and sporting excellence. 🔺️ A new Fire and Rescue Station, enhancing public safety and emergency response capacity to protect lives and property in times of crisis. 🔺️ Drilling of a water reservoir, aimed at addressing water scarcity and meeting the needs of both residents and livestock.
