Frankly I’m surprised it’s not higher. Many people identify Scots as their 1st language, and Glasgow has the highest concentration of Gaelic speakers in Scotland. Bit of an own goal, @Nigel_Farage and @reformparty_uk

What @Nigel_Farage fails to realise is that most people born in Scotland are translingual: we switch constantly between English and Scots, plus some include Gaelic in their linguistic repertoires. If children of migrants further increase Glasgow’s linguistic diversity, tant mieux

It feels weird having #IATEFL2025 in Edinburgh. I’m not sure why - maybe because it’s close to where I grew up, and I associate IATEFL with things that are very far removed from where I grew up.
