Visual strategy cards help students see and understand the math! I saw this on math cats (the card). Go there and download all the card shells. I did all the equations. Usually people only do 4 equations but we should really teach 8.

Students need math toolkits. They need reference sheets for talk and math ideas. They need things that help them to become independent and then they need to know how to use these things! #ElemMathChat

@bstockus The important thing to keep in mind about the Four Stages of Using Models is that they describe levels of children's thinking - not levels of a lesson. During any Number Talk, some children will need a model and others will ignore the model since they don't need it.
