@BriannaWu You’re a genocide supporter. You could have stayed home. No one needed you at any protest. And please stay away in the future.

been driving more lately. had realisation that part of reason 20mph zones wind people up so much is because the roads are dogshit, constant patchwork, pot holes, uneven surface. at low speeds you bump all over shop, constantly jolting & juddering - permanently uncomfortable

I am glad @thebarcouncil are making a clear public stand against the outrageous attempt to prosecute my colleague, Raj Menon KC, for reminding jurors of the text of this plaque on the wall of the Old Bailey. The judge in this ancient case locked the jurors away for contempt of court for failing to return a guilty verdict. They held out against the pressure of being "locked up without food for 2 nights" until they were freed on a writ of Habeas corpus by the Chief Justice. The case established the right of jurors to "give their verdict according to their convictions". This case is a line in the sand for the criminal bar. Any judge who objects to me reading the text of this plaque to a jury can lock me up too. Because I will not be prevented from doing my duty by threats and judicial intimidation. We are all Raj Menon now.

The Bar Council@thebarcouncil

Bar Council Chair statement on contempt of court case Barrister Rajiv Menon KC has won an appeal on an important point of lack of jurisdiction. In a ruling on Tuesday, the Court of Appeal stopped Mr Menon's forthcoming case, saying there was no jurisdiction for the High Court to hear the case. But the senior judges left the option for the challenge to be resumed under correct procedural powers. Chair of the Bar Kirsty Brimelow KC said: “I have followed with concern this exceptional attempt to refer Rajiv Menon KC for contempt of court. A barrister has a duty to represent their clients fearlessly and judge-instigated contempt proceedings risk a chilling effect on the profession. The Court of Appeal judgment is welcomed, and it is hoped that this now is an end of this troubling episode."

I left school when I was 17 (got 'asked to leave', is the more accurate term I guess). This was 1997. My unqualified, entry-level salary was more than the average salary now. My Dad - hopping mad - had sent me to three months of secretarial college and I came out into an £18k job in the local Glaxo factory as an admin assistant. To give a sense of how long ago this was - my boss would hand-write messages onto sheets of paper and I would touch-type them into this new-fangled 'email' thing she couldn't fathom. Nearly 30 years later, the equivalent - in purchasing power at least - would be £36k. A year later, I parlayed that up to a £21k job in the R&D side - still as a PA, 18 years old. I saved up and went to Taiwan to teach English for a bit. When I got back, I went to London and got a job earning £24k designing presentations and documents in a marketing agency. I was 20yo. The equivalent in 2026 would be £46k. With zero qualifications beyond the ability to touch-type and a certificate saying I could use Word, Excel and PowerPoint, I was on 1.35x the average salary now. I made a lot of mistakes as a kid. Most of my mates did. But the economy I lived in allowed the messiness of life to roll out. We could learn, take risks and still be able to live and breathe. We are failing future generations. And we have a generation that's already been failed. Our politicians are addicted to cheap slogans. They want power, not service. The failure of their reality-denying ideologies continues to spiral outwards. Yes, immigration plays a role. Yes, housing, technology and deindustrialisation play a role. But the state has morphed into a deeply incompetent, self-indulgent boondoggle machine, that spends more time bribing voters than it does serving - or investing in - the country.

The average British salary should be £65,000. It's £34,000. Fifty years of political failure. One plan to fix it. The SDP's Investment State documentary, out now:

At yesterday's Unite the Kingdom rally one speaker said: "It's not too late to get Islam out of that building (Parliament)" "It is not to late to get Islam out of every single official office in this country" "It is absolutely vital, if we want to save this country, we have to remove Islam from every single place of authority" If these comments were directed at British Jews, they would rightly dominate headlines nationwide, because antisemitism is wrong. Anti-Muslim rhetoric should be treated with the same seriousness and scrutiny.

Yesterday in our hospital in west london there were 6 women who presented after unprovoked attacks just because they were wearing Hijab. One had serous life changing facial injuries. One was attacked by dogs (intentionally) All hospital staff who wear Hijab had to ask family members to come and take them home safely or pay for very expensive Taxis. Are we living in Gaza. Why was this hate march and violence allowed by @ShabanaMahmood

Israel has Occupied & totally Fucked Eurovision for everyone, gutting audiences, shitting all over the Vibes, turning it into nothing but a manufactured Laundering campaign for them, & they do not give a fuck. Now The Whole event deserves to Die because of it.

Call me antisemitic but shouldn’t this headline read ‘Bulgaria’s Dara wins the 70th Eurovision Song Contest’? 🤔

As a neurodivergent person, I’ll match your story with one of mine thinking it shows empathy and solidarity. Next thing I know, someone says I’m trying to compete. Bruh, I’m not competing—I’m just trying to relate the only way my brain knows how.

I really hate the “no person who works a full-time job should live in poverty” discourse. It should simply be that nobody deserves to live in poverty. We have to let go of the idea that we work in exchange for our worth. People are innately worthy and deserving of the basics.

I love Eurovision weekend but I've not watched a single minute this year because somethings matter a lot more. Fuck Israel, FREE PALESTINE. The fact the competition would rather destroy itself than eject a cheating, genocidal, participant is insanely telling.

If we had a functioning media the very first question they would ask any Labour candidate is whether he would arrest Netanyahu if he came to the U.K. The answer to that question will tell you if he works for us or not.
