@elephant_ben It isn't, Cantonese people are literally Vietnamese people who ended up in China 1500 years ago

@Jamesputty8 @AFoolforChrist It is objectively wrong because my faith is objective truth. If I take a look at the average Christian country and a look at the average muslim country I know this to be the truth.

@Jamesputty8 @AFoolforChrist Aquinas argues, that the ideal age for marrying as a man is 37 and for women around 18, to ensure fertility and to make sure the man is mature enough. He also says that one of the requirements is "rational and physical" maturity, something which a 6 year old does not posess

@schadenmacker @AFoolforChrist youre just appealing to intuition. what objective moral principle says a 10-year age gap is acceptable but a 40-year gap is immoral? where do you draw the line, why?

My favourite bit that women do online is pretending that a man watching porn is a sin worse than a woman indiscriminately sleeping around

@Jamesputty8 @AFoolforChrist There is a difference between a 10 year age gap and a 40 year one, especially when one of the persons involved is a literal child, we aren't talking about a 50 and 25 year old here. If you go by ancient western philosophers, a 5-10 year age gap is fine or even encouraged

@schadenmacker @AFoolforChrist is your principle that age gaps in marriages is always immoral irrespective of social norms, historical context, and the happiness or success of the marriage? if so, justify that principle instead of just asserting it.

@schadenmacker @AFoolforChrist faith isnt a substitute for evidence. I am asking for the biblical basis & the logical coherence of the trinity, not whether its difficult to believe.

@Jamesputty8 @AFoolforChrist This is about marriage between teenagers, not a 50 year old marrying a 6 year old, answer the question. How about Mohammed being killed by being poisoned and feeling like his aorta had been cut, when he previously stated that if he defies god will his aorta shall be cut?

@schadenmacker @AFoolforChrist in the past marriage was linked to puberty, maturity & welfare, not modern age laws & individuals after puberty were often expected to take on adult responsibilities Prophet's ﷺ enemies never criticized it. his wife became a leading scholar, not a victim claiming abuse.

@memeticsisyphus There's a big difference between the Atticus Finch "everyone deserves a fair trial, especially the guilty" criminal defense attorneys and the "I just got my fifth child rapist and murderer off death row by pulling some stupid rules lawyering trick" defense attorneys.

I still don't get the evolutionary point of blue eyes. AFAICT, they just make you sensitive to light, and that's about it.
Stephen McIntyre@ClimateAudit

Studies of ancient DNA indicate that blue-eyed humans are a relatively recent phenomenon (6-8000 years ago) and from a single locale. Surprising. sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/… Ancient DNA studies were almost non-existent 20 years ago, but are yielding absolutely astounding results.

@Jamesputty8 @AFoolforChrist It doesn't but you are a bit too dense to get that, the Trinity is arguably one the part of Christianity that requires the most faith to believe, like how your faith requires you to believe that your prophet was allowed by your god to have sex with Aisha at 9

@AFoolforChrist How many Gods are there? 1. The Father is God 2. The Son is God 3. The Holy Spirit is God 4. The Father is not the Son 5. The Father is not the Holy Spirit 6. The Son is not the Holy Spirit There is exactly One God goes AGAINST logical conclusion because of the above premises

it's fucked up playing Morrowind and despite all the issues that game has (who the fuck designed fatigue to work like that) it is truly blessed with a freedom missing in both its sequels

@V_E_R_G The age of the lore is not the important thing here, it is in fact "consistency" "does it work" "is it interesting". The locale of the empire being a treacherous jungle with tribalistic imperials and more noble imperials is a lot more interesting than "uhh Lotr I guess"

Cyrodiil being a jungle was the actual retcon. In Daggerfall it's described largely how it's depicted in Oblivion. Even Morrowind itself has a book contradicting the Cyrodiil jungle meme. It's time to let it go.

@V_E_R_G The point being that they absolutely butchered the lore from pocket guide because Todd watched Lord of the Rings one too many times. They know they butchered it, because they actually had to retcon Cyrodiil being a jungle by having Tiber Septim fucking terraform it

@V_E_R_G Your argument makes no sense in so far as Bethesda "picking and choosing" what to keep from the pocket guide, Oblivion dev onwards did not care about lore implications in the slightest which is why they also unceremoniously turned Sutch into some abandoned fort

@V_E_R_G The pocket guide to tamriel, which was first featured with Redguard, essentially serves as the entire basis of modern Elder Scrolls lore, it retconned a bunch yes, but in a non retarded actually cool inspiring way. Also a bunch of the stuff from the pocket guide is still relevant
