Ok, so I get hearsay. I even get double hearsay. I get that there are “hearsay exceptions” and there are “nonhearsay.” But for the life of me, I do not get how jurisdictions choose how to classify what is a hearsay exception and what is nonhearsay.

@ManlikeMandela The bankruptcy code is easy to violate without knowing you’re doing it. People file for bankruptcy all the time & it places an automatic stay on any pending litigation with that person. Knowing how to navigate the bankruptcy code ends up being way more important than you’d think

My current advice to law students is to TAKE BANKRUPTCY LAW. I know you don’t want to, I know it sounds daunting and miserable, I know you believe your future practice area will never have anything to do with bankruptcy. This is a lie. Please, for the love of god.

As an attorney, my biggest networking advice. Hunt for the nodes in a network. (1) other attorneys are great. We all know people (2) barbers (3) bartenders (4) client referrals Weirdly, I use print shops for hearings & stuff. I use a different one each time. Got a few cases from just that. I target the ones that aren't expressly saying "for lawyers".
