Was looking at an 18th century linen shirt this morning, and I love this contrast between the superfine original stitching and the less fine repair work from later (zoom in). There are lots of interesting patches on this garment, including one where the penis would be.

The specific allegations against Swalwell aside….this response reflects a very pervasive (but wrong) belief. Most sexual violence is relational and survivors keeping contact w/ their assailants is very common and not necessarily discrediting (esp when there’s a power imbalance)

I’ve covered Eric Swawell since he was a member of the Dublin City Council. Shortly after being elected to Congress in 2013, his behavior towards women was known by all levels of our local government and the Alameda County Democratic Party.

NO. All of this “skepticism is warranted after Tara Reade” is incorrect AND harmful. she is the RARE exception - the 2% of allegations that are false. believing women should be the default - almost 0 women make false allegations. It was immediately clear she was lying.

Maybe I’m wrong and Swalwell is that guy. Been wrong before. However, some skepticism is warranted after Tara Reade. Liars don’t care about survivors, or victims, or the damage these lies do to actual survivors. They care about the lie, and causing havoc.

That’s because you haven’t been sexually harassed/coerced assaulted by a powerful person in your field. I have. And I know it’s not something you need to get past. Be grateful you don’t understand it on a visceral level and LEARN and understand it on a facts/data level.

I’ve been doing Pilates for about a year, with a three month hiatus from surgery. Today, an instructor told me after class I was really strong.
