I respect pragmatism. "How can we make this work?" Generally though, pragmatism stops dead up against a contract. If a person in a contract finds a more efficient way to do something, but it doesn't fulfill the original contract, then it won't work. I hope that our leadership can find pragmatic solutions while maintaining the original contract of the Constitution. If someone or some organization steps outside those bounds, that contract trumps pragmatism in my opinion.
