A model where the 49ers 2025 draft comes back as the 31st worst that year is inherently flawed. It was an objectively really good draft that got a bunch of starters. Mykel was great before he got hurt. Collins-Stout-West-Sigle all got significant time and showed big flashes.

@LombardiHimself Yeah except they have been so consistently wrong with their selections perhaps the organization would be better served with a more traditional/mainstream approach. The core of this team is aging out and there is nobody of significance behind them to take over.

The whole idea that a pick can’t be good because he went higher than in irrelevant mock drafts is very tied to how wrong many continue to be dead wrong about how good Brock Purdy is. They worship draft order instead of actually watching football and understanding its meritocratic nature. Once picks report, no one in the building cares where specific players were drafted. Only fans and some analysts, all of whom aren’t actually connected to the league and its workings, care about this. That was actually one of the main draft points of a coach named… Bill Walsh

I like De'Zhaun Stribling as a player, but it is a reach. One of the issues the 49ers have is that Kyle Shanahan has too much personnel say. Every coach wants to WIN NOW so they will draft like that, instead of taking players with the most upside and potential and who will be the best player in 3 years. (This is why Sean McVay hated the Ty Simpson pick. It does nothing for the Rams in 2026) So, the 49ers often reach because Kyle has too much personnel input. He's not a scout. He's not a GM. He's not grinding tape on these college prospects during the season, because he simply doesn't have time and it's not his job. #49ers
