@PatrickMcEnroe @buckeyetennis This is a typical trend, certain schools end up getting all the elite American kids . This is not an age thing …it’s Level . To be able to play elite 16 team tennis you need to be 12 plus to 13 UTR . American talent is too thin. The kid 60 in the country is not this level.

NCAA men’s tennis Sweet 16 snapshot — by my count: 20 American starters in 96 singles spots. 12 from just two teams: Stanford and Ohio State. That leaves 8 American starters across the other 14 teams. The issue is the overall numbers — and what they mean for American players below the elite level.

@JTweetsTennis USTA Campus is not a good place for the tournament. It’s sterile.. in the past they didn’t get a good turn out. Needs to be in Athens or on college campuses w strong local ties.

This is a fair take on how the USTA can better support college tennis. Brian Vahaly, interim co-CEO of USTA shared with Front Office Sports this week: "...we need to take a more active role in supporting college tennis...that starts with elevating the visibility of the college game..." Securing a long-term TV deal for the NCAA championships at the USTA campus would be a good start!

I’ll bet if you crowd-sourced $2.5 million from the tennis community, you could fund the program and a KPMG or McKinsey study on how to make the program become less of a financial liability…

@PatrickMcEnroe Pathway ? Wake-up … it only means the American kid is not good enough . The USTA system , tournament structure and player development is not developing a large enough base . The kid 50 to 200 is not good enough: Everything is a world market .

Just re checked the numbers—ACC + SEC men’s team finals: 24 singles players… 3 Americans…HELLO??!! That’s a system that’s lost its balance. College sports used to DEVELOP American athletes. Now it’s short-term wins, global recruiting, and no structure. If American players don’t have this pathway anymore, where do they go?
