Observations From The Munich Security Conference -  It took a World War and eight decades to build the strongest alliance that this world had ever seen. It took less than a year to practically destroy it. When Secretary Rubio said the “old world order was dead” during his speech in Munich he was right. It’s dead because Donald Trump blew it up.  It wasn’t perfect, and there were opportunities missed to improve it, but Donald Trump only knows how to break things, not fix them.  He thinks this somehow benefits us. He is wrong. Our allies no longer trust us. It was obvious in the more than a dozen meetings I had with Presidents, Prime Ministers and Defense and Foreign Ministers. And if you’re Denmark and Greenland, a “loss of trust” is a generous characterization of our new relationship. China is now more popular in Denmark than the United States. In Poland, the U.S. is 21 percent less popular than it used to be. This means these countries are looking elsewhere for trade and security — that makes you poorer and less safe. It will be incredibly hard to build what comes next, but we have to figure out a better path forward. Make no mistake, China is rising. Our ability to keep up with them and prevent a conflict depends on trusted, reliable alliances. So does ending the war in Ukraine in a way that keeps Putin from moving on to his next target. And so does growing our economy and protecting American workers in the age of AI.  I know there was celebration at the end of the Munich Security Conference. Unfortunately the champagne corks were popping in Beijing and Moscow.

Epstein survivors are sharing the most important ad you’ll see today. Please watch. Trump and his administration are trying to cover up this scandal, but we are not moving on from it.

Anne Frank was forced into hiding in Nazi Germany because armed soldiers were going door to door demanding papers, and if your papers said you were Jewish, they captured you and sent you to a camp. Today Anne would've been 99 years old. This was not that long ago.

Cancer patients who got a COVID shot lived significantly longer. No, that’s not a typo. A new study found that a simple mRNA vaccine - originally made for COVID - nearly doubled survival in patients with advanced lung and skin cancer. Let’s break it down 👇 🧵 1/

Trump hates to be the object of humor. He understands that humor can be a more powerful antidote to tyranny than any other form of criticism. I'm sure he'd hate it if you shared this cartoon. [Cartoon by Jon Adams/The New Yorker]

There are only 3 real questions in health care. 1. How much does it cost ? 2. Can the patient afford it ? 3. Who pays what the patient can't ? Most ins comps, do all they can to A. Make it tough for people to afford their deductible/OOP. (Has there ever been a credit check ?) B. Reduce their payment risk any way they can C. Financial engineer their relationship with providers through deductibles, auth denials/delays/, underpaying their contracts with providers D. Use intercompany transfers to game legal requirements This leads to providers (hospitals) having to do their own version of financial engineering to compensate. So they : A. Create Facility Fees B. Abuse 340B C. Underpay doctors D. Jerry rig in patient vs out patient charges (they wouldn't let me mom, with cancer, get her CT scan while she was in the hospital. She had to leave and come back ) E. Some other things I'm still figuring out And don't get me started on PBMs. Which leads to the question of why can taxpayers guarantee 10s of billions in loans (usually not 100pct ) for homes, college, SBA, farms and more. But we cant find a way to guarantee the cost of healthcare, on a means tested basis , with constraints like limiting the amount charged by the provider to the local Medicare rates , and possibly a little higher. the problem with healthcare is that the biggest payers control the flow of cash through the entire system

As Trump tries to dismantle the Department of Education, remember that his plan to cut the corporate tax rate to 15% would give the 100 largest corporations a tax cut larger than the entire department's K-12 budget. Really think about how twisted this all is.

It is an unconscionable betrayal of our most vulnerable, including millions of children, elderly, and ill. Shame on all who voted to give tax breaks to those who need it least by cutting from those who need it most. This is a failure of character and community. We can do better.
Blood Cancer United Advocacy@bcutd_advocacy

Tonight, the U.S. House of Representatives approved a budget bill that will require disastrous cuts to #Medicaid, posing a direct threat to cancer patients and millions of others who rely on #Medicaid for essential healthcare. @LLSusa strongly condemns this action.

Pretty sure the board and shareholders of @tesla would love to know what Elon did for them last week, too. I doubt he’d respond, so maybe they should accept his resignation, as well.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

Consistent with President @realDonaldTrump’s instructions, all federal employees will shortly receive an email requesting to understand what they got done last week. Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation.

A Message to Elon Musk @elonmusk and DOGE from a Mother of a boy named Max. Please at least give it a read and reconsider haphazardly freezing funding on important government programs: "Elon, this perfect little boy is my son Max. He's not a parasite. He's pure joy. Love radiates from him, and he has a smile for everyone he meets. He was born with a rare genetic form of leukodystrophy called TBCD that is usually fatal by five years of age. We were filled with hope when the researcher our patient advocacy group has been working with at Nationwide Children's Hospital was awarded with an R01 grant from the NIH after our community pooled our resources to fund the first phase of her research to apply for it. Last year, she showed us some of her work in the lab that PROVED there was a pathway to a treatment. It was just a few cells in a dish. My son's neural cells -- cured. Right now, her funds are frozen. The grant that was providing hope for a future for these children with a condition so rare that private pharma would never have any interest in creating a treatment is what you're fighting to slash funding for. You might as well be slashing my kid's throat. Any delay in bringing this from the bench to the bedside WILL kill children in our community - and you're laughing on X and calling them parasites? Shame on you."
