It’s not a coincidence that the astronauts who’ve traveled further than any human don’t talk like they know everything. They talk like students and explorers. Their wonder and curiosity are on full display.
That’s what science does to you.
It dissolves your ego and forces you to confront the vastness of the unknown. It makes you more careful with your words, more open to being wrong and more in awe of the questions than obsessed with the answers.
It softens you in the best way possible.

@nesn your broadcast volume consistently fluctuates between lower and higher levels throughout the entire game. It’s as if someone is slowly turning the volume up and down repeatedly. It was persistent last year, and three games into 2026, it seems to still be an issue.

Best Fenway Opening Day I ever attended? That was in 2001 when Manny Ramirez demolished the first pitch he saw in a Boston uni in front of the home crowd. One pitch, one swing, and suddenly I believed (or at least prayed) that this bat would carry us to the promised land.

Paper is printed in Taunton, where the mayor declared a state of emergency and the roads are closed. Were the trucks supposed to fly out?

This is really sad. News organizations are supposed to be at their best when things are at their worst for their consumers—that’s how you serve the public. Cost should not have been a consideration in this circumstance. Sucks, as a former Globe staffer, to see this.
