Houston man volunteers himself to be a crossing guard at one of the city's busiest intersections. 20-year-old Davonta Robbins spends his weekends and free time volunteering to help pedestrians cross at Montrose Boulevard and Westheimer Road. "I try to do the best I can to make sure people cross the street safely," Robbins said. "We mostly have a lot of speeders... there have been a lot of accidents. I do this just because so nobody else won't get hit." Helping people cross the street is personal for Robbins. In 2021, he was struck by a car that was fleeing from police. He was hospitalized for months with a shattered leg. When he noticed danger at the Montrose intersection, he decided to step up and buy his own equipment to help pedestrians. Nothing can fully compensate for the hell that my family and I have endured over these many years—the relentless attacks, the destruction of reputations, the financial ruin, and the profound personal toll inflicted upon us all. No amount of money or formal resolution can erase the pain caused by a prosecution that should never have been brought. It was a relentless, partisan pursuit that weaponized federal law enforcement in an audacious and unjust manner. Today, I received a text that a school board member here in California heard about what happened. Let’s just say this this person wasn’t too “happy”. The high crime of students coming to Jesus and encountering the presence of God is so offensive to them… But this is exactly why we will NEVER back down. Our generation deserves bold preachers and those who carry authority in the spirit. We’ve done close to 30 schools in SoCal in the last two months. We aren’t playing games.
