For work reasons and because twitter still functions, I am not ready to leave yet - but this is a good article on why many are leaving, and I don't blame them. (and I am setting up on Mastodon for if/when this site ceases to function or becomes completely unenjoyable)

Mastodon has just passed over 2 million active monthly users, a new record! People are voting with their feet. The future of social media doesn't have to belong to a billionaire, it can be in the hands of its users.

@aarontitus yeah i’m very sad about the possible loss of this platform & community that has greatly improved my life in many ways. having said that, I’ve also set up on Mastodon & I’m hopeful that if we lose twitter, we might be able to use that in a similar fashion if enough people join up
