Canada is literally the only G7 country without high speed rail. Conservatives want you to continue to pay sky high prices for gas, worsen congestion on roads and make your commute hours longer. We've been "studying" high speed rail for 50 years - time to get it built.
Scott Robertson@sarobertsonca

Pierre Poilievre on the Toronto–Quebec City High-Speed Rail Network: "Conservatives oppose the $90b Liberal-Alto train ... a future Conservative government will cancel this $90b boondoggle altogether."

John Tory: so Robert Stanfield looked me dead in the eye--and this is true-- and he said 'this egg salad is mighty flavourful boy.' 31 year old staffer (twirling hair): haha wow!

@bobby_halstead @DrJesseMorse If you had looked inside her knee you would have seen she has no ACL. I’m afraid that is a requirement to succeed in the sport.

Wishing Lindsey Vonn the best of luck after today’s crash. Yes I believe the recently torn left ACL played a role in this crash, either directly or indirectly. Likely having to do with stability and balance. That’s a moot point now, as she very well knew the risks of skiing with the injury, but she bravely tried to continue regardless. I hope that she did not sustain any significant injuries and we get good news soon. 🙏🏼

The AP's Jacquelyn Martin has the photo that shows the split-second before Lindsey Vonn's crash: her right ski pole clips the gate at the crest of the jump, which flung her off balance and induced the crash.

@i_zzzzzz Within 10 seconds of entering the store the other day witnessed an exchange just like this. Worth a visit next time you’re in Toronto, very unique experience.

@dgrdon That's true for those portions, but that is a small percentage of the overall network. If they had planned to run more service on the track they own that night they could have.

@sctdvy Heard it on CBC radio and also articles like this. "[Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria] said there were some lines where trains couldn’t operate late because of track constraints on lines owned by CP or CN Rail." globalnews.ca/news/11508883/…

@dgrdon Where did they pin the blame on CN and CP?

@sctdvy Interesting. Except that the rationale given for the closure or not staying open late on Saturday night / Sunday morning was that CN and CP own parts of the track and GO couldn't operate at that time. But that is interesting that GO/Metrolinx owns so much of its track now.

@reiaposting GO Expansion has been downgraded internally at Metrolinx to a “minimal viable service”. We’re not getting anything like true RER anytime soon.

montreal has almost nothing new planned after this btw (just blue line ext.) whereas Toronto has GO expansion (much larger network than REM), 2 under construction line extensions, a brand new downtown subway line (with REM tech), and plans for way more.

montreal opening a fully-automated metro with GO train-level reach, funded by the pension plan in like half the time it has taken toronto to build one single glorified streetcar is all you need to know about how deeply unserious toronto is about becoming a great city

Italian dockworker Romeo Pelliccaria tells @DropSiteNews that Genoa workers are now coordinating with dockworkers from around Europe for a full-scale blockade of arms shipments to Israel. He recalls that in the 1970s, his father, also a dockworker, joined a humanitarian flotilla to Vietnam to break the U.S. blockade.
