I wrote an article on this topic 4 ways to get compete for startups (TLDR): 1) Government-mandated products(if you have connections, your products are picked in) 2) Once humans let AI decide what products to pick, it'll be possible to reverse engineer it and hijack those picks. 3) Human identity purchases (this is what you, Marc and other "branded" makers do. Some users buy from you because it makes them feel good, cuz they admire you. 4) Paid placements inside AI (it'll be possible to pay to big llms and be recommended or picked by LLMs in relevant scenarios (the game of a capital, cuz these ads gonna be expensive) x.com/johnrushx/stat…

@ragojose @paper Impressive. I'm assuming you've migrated over to Paper coming from Figma ? Do you recommend switching ? I really can't tell if @figma will drop these types of MCP features soon.

@beastydesign Je suis curieux et j’ai envie d’essayer mais c’est vrai que c’est l’impression que me donnent aussi la plupart des posts sur ce sujet. Après @karpathy semble être intéressé par le concept et ça c’est pas rien.

Has anything more lightweight and more secure than @openclaw been released ? Looking for some alternatives before going all in on one solution.

@jackfriks Beelinks are lovely little machines. Great cost / perf. ratio. Been running Home Assistant on one for a while and it’s holding up great. They def. seem well suited for running Claws.

People fundamentally misunderstand why “SaaS is dead”. Countless SaaS’es won’t die because people will vibe-code their own replacements. That won’t happen, it’s a silly take. Countless SaaS’es will die out because their moat is nothing other than a nice UI that displays a simple dataset. Jira / Linear / Monday / Asana ? Tableau / Looker / Power BI ? Salesforce / HubSpot / Pipedrive ? These SaaS companies are each competing with each other over a roughly identical data model with slightly different UIs and workflows. HOWEVER, LLMs are dissolving the UIs and workflows into a universal interaction model : the conversation is now the UI / WF. The value propositions of these SaaS’es will plummet once users start seeing them as mere data providers to be plugged into their agents / LLMs. A nicer UI ? Increasingly worthless. A cool brand ? Increasingly invisible. A more capable set of workflows ? Increasingly less impressive compared to a smart AI agent. Many SaaS’es will compete to their deaths over tighter and tighter integrations with major AI companies until they are reduced to being neat little MCP servers easily swappable and replaceable.

“SaaS is dead” Because grandma is going to vibe code her plant watering app And then grandma is going to continue: > shipping features > fixing bugs > ensuring uptime > updating dependencies Instead of paying $30/month Yeah, SaaS is dead

@RockyRoark @xcyynical What do you find frustrating about it ? I’ve been considering investing more effort into Contra but aren’t yet convinced it’s worth my time.

@xcyynical Unfortunately there is no “new” Behance or Dribbble for that matter. Contra doesn’t work the way people say and more creatives are frustrated by it.

Both my business partner and I had a background in the restaurant and hospitality industry. He was always working as a chef in the back of the house while I typically worked front of house jobs like serving, bartending, and what not. We both went to school for design and our first freelance clients just happened to be the connections we had from the people we used to work with. Everything just kind of went in that direction organically from there. Started with brand and print and transitioned to include all aspects of design, including digital and environmental. Soup to nuts.

@tfol_sedso Thanks for your reply. You seem to have established yourself in a well defined segment that you have learned to serve well. Did you purposefully target hospitality or did that happen more organically through happenstance ?

I like to focus on design and creative strategy with regards to the specific clients that we service, and not just something that AI can spit out as a deliverable. Working in the restaurant and hospitality industry, we string together various solutions from brand and menu design to websites, signage, and a variety of other things that specifically service these types of clients. AI weaves its way in, but we don’t focus on AI as a selling point, it’s just a feature used here and there with us in the background (barely). We focus on full service design ( however it’s made ) for restaurants.
