@TalktoARYZE I've been going by frequently while taking my daughter to Commonwealth and admiring it from a design perspective- had no idea it was net zero. Lovely building.

This is Norma, Aryze’s first net zero rental building. We got our Air Tightness (L/S/m2) test completed: - Step Code 4: 0.20 - Passive House: 0.18 - Norma: 0.11 Our internal construction team and the consultants and trades absolutely crushed the quality of this build.

@LeoSpalteholz I'm sure everyone of these came from a good place and/or a reaction to a specific incident or policy. Problem is that the combined effect of all wasn't considered. And they rarely get removed if not effective. Which is why we need to constantly re-examine our approval processes.

@LeoSpalteholz Couldn't get your tool to work for me, but managed to dump my data into SQLite and saw that for our household, we would save $6/year before even trying to move load off peak. :)

@ColinPlant2022 @crd_bc Great to see and thankful for those who planned ahead. Only thing is that they might want to update their advice on that report: "To avoid possible leaks this spring, now is the time to winterize your sprinkler system." Think it might be a bit late for that this year. :)

As of March 17 the @crd_bc Water Watch report shows our reservoirs are at 100%! I am thankful that because of our political predecessors investing in increased capacity, we currently have an adequate supply and safe supply. Report: crd.bc.ca/docs/default-s…

@mattdellok According to the 2022 CRD Origin Destination Survey, Esquimalt had a higher % of residents cycling than Victoria did. We are going to have to demand an asterisk be placed on that title. :)

It’s official - Victoria council has unanimously declared Victoria as the CYLCING CAPITAL OF CANADA! We have the highest percentage of people that bike to work in Canada, a beautiful AAA bike network, free bike valet services, and beautiful weather and ocean-side trails. #yyj

@TalktoARYZE @khzny One of the compensations for getting older is watching your 15-year old doing those while you (and your knees) watch with only a bit of envy..

I don’t use Facebook much anymore, but the Memories feature is awesome. Especially right now, when it reminds me that 16 years ago it was Jan 10th and I was still on a ski trip with my buddies and hadn’t bothered to return to school yet. I think we stayed another week still. Dollar beers and cheap food while cramming 6 dudes in a one bedroom motel room. So fun.

@ColinMcT @KennCoutu That didn't look right, so I asked chatGPT to refine it to reflect the region's historical perception of Esquimalt as being on the wrong side of the tracks..

@ColinMcT @KennCoutu I asked chatGPT for an image of an Esquimalt-based McMansion. This is what it came up with.

@HillNikki Always worth remembering that a cash donation is usually far more helpful - money goes farther, and involves a lot less work sorting / assessing. Donations of things you aren't going to use but have already are great- buying things to donate are not nearly as useful.

How to help food banks this holiday season - "Another category that is helpful to food banks are hygiene and baby products like toothpaste, soap, diapers and formula - menstrual products in particular tend to fall through the cracks." cbc.ca/news/canada/mo…

@CAHiggins @chadwickconway @ev_match Thanks, we already require 100% EV-ready stalls in new construction, but looking for examples for retrofitting existing rental stock (which we have a lot of in Esquimalt)

the next challenge to EV adoption is consumers who rent or live in multi-family dwellings. I am doing my part by adding my EV charger to @ev_match. If you have a charger and are open to having folks charge at your house (likely a neighbor), add your EVSE to EV Match.

Went downtown Victoria this evening, and couldn't find parking. From what I read here on Twitter, I thought no one was going downtown anymore? #yyj

@helenlw_ 2 or more bus connections- so 3 bus routes coming together? That's great, and makes a lot of sense. 2 bus routes captures a lot of locations that probably don't.

@LeoSpalteholz @TedLightbulb It's got very little to do with avoiding cutting them down, and all about protecting their root zone, which is how trees breathe. Crush their roots (especially the fine ones near the surface) and they suffocate and die.
