After much work by @CityofVancouver staff and the development community, the MultiPlex Report (allowing 4-6 homes on most RS-1 lots, 60% of the buildable land in the City) is public! Staff Recommend Council: •Add multiple dwelling as a permitted use to allow the construction of multiplexes as a new housing option with additional units and density; • Require either a set-rate density bonus payment, a below-market homeownership unit, or secured rental housing for the opportunity to access additional density with a multiplex application; • Extend passive house incentives to the new multiplex option and simplify the existing passive house regulations; •Reduce the maximum size of new single-detached houses; • Increase the maximum size of new laneway houses, and simplify the laneway house regulations; • Reduce the number of zoning regulations that apply to RS residential zones; and • Consolidate the nine RS residential zones by rezoning areas zoned RS-1, RS-1A, RS-1B, RS-2, RS-3, RS-3A, RS-5, RS-6 and RS-7 to a new R1-1 Residential Inclusive zone. council.vancouver.ca/20230725/docum… @Lanefab @The_Clay_Way @BCollective_CH @HavanOfficial @havan_ceo @harshan_r @EastVanBuilder @averrahomes @TomDavidoff @JeffKingPREC @rosskay @fabulavancouver @GoldinYVR

@Prominent_Bryan @LUV2SKIPOW We had a heat pump in our 1908 heritage home. It was so good (it replaced a gas furnace) now we moved to a new home and we are getting a heat pump in our new place. Heat pumps deliver better comfort!

Scam alert, and an embarrassment for me. A verified Stella LI BYD account I was following, was shutdown this morning, for violating rules. I assume it was fraudulent. Yesterday I noticed the account appeared to be using a VPN, and the location did not match China. Once I saw this, I reported the account. I also messaged the account, and got a detailed explanation of a technical issue they were having that was misidentifying their location, and would be fixed in a day or two. Today confirmation they were shut down. This was a long established account, that just became active on launch issues surrounding the Canadian market last week. The person behind the account had a nerd level, understanding of electric vehicles, and presented extensive details on BYD‘s plans. This of course may all be bullshit. Lessons learned: Just because it’s a verified account and uses a well-known company name does not mean it’s legitimate. Just because it’s been established for many years does not mean it’s legitimate, names can be changed. What should have tipped me off sooner was a lower than you would expect follower count, for an employee of a company like BYD. I apologize for spreading unverified information, and I will be going back over my posts and attaching an alert. Sorry for this.

@Prominent_Bryan @TheChaosWeeber I agree on the LED lights. I was there in 2019 for work. What got me is how much better the transport network is. High speed trains and building more all the time. BC would be better with more rail options. We should be building rail to UBC, the North Shore, Whistler, Hope...

EVs Exceed 60% of China's Auto Market! April 2026 was a disaster globally for gasoline and diesel burning vehicles! EVs made big market share gains. Wonderful! China's EV exports skyrocketed as well. reuters.com/business/autos…

It's great to see your interest. I'm happy to confirm we're on track for a launch in Canada in late 2026. We're aiming to open around 20 dealerships in the first year, starting with the Greater Toronto Area and expanding to cities like Vancouver, Montreal, and Calgary. Our initial lineup will include models like the Atto 3, Seal, Dolphin, and Seagull, with the Seagull estimated at around C$25,000. In the meantime, I invite you to reach out to me directly if you'd like to share which model you're most interested in.

@LhommeDesole My folks have the 3. I prefer the Y, but I carry 3 people and cargo with me most of the time. The efficiency almost does not mater to me, though I am mostly traveling within 3h of home via highway. As a road trip machine, I can see how you would love a 3.

@CAHiggins I think a bit of both. That and the Y is just a lot less efficient than the 3. I’m goi g to take my wheel spacers off in a couple weeks and see what difference that makes. This car has been a pretty substantial disappointment coming from a 6 year older Model 3, overall.

I’m probably going to have to buy a 8 year old Model 3 so I’ll have enough range for road trips. I miss 165 Wh/km summer efficiency 😐

@Prominent_Bryan Two kids missing in Burns Lake ( 8-9h drive away from Vancouver), yes, lets wake up the entire province. Kids were located, in Burns Lake within a few hours. It is almost impossible to criticize but it is not a well set up system.

I'm sorry but Amber alerts are useless. You're blasting my phone at 1am and I can't even read the message if I turn off the alert (the sound) itself How is that useful? Are there people who really tolerate the sound while reading? I bet we just all rush to stop it and move on

so I'll put on my NDP hat (they pay well) and provide 2 stats that won't please the Eby haters 1. Contrary to what many politicians on the Right are saying, BC saw POSITIVE net internal migrations in 2025 2. The GDP grew more than the average and more than expected. And no this growth wasn't faked with immigration

@LhommeDesole @Drive_Protected @Tesla Are there any independent shops you can take it to for a look? I had FactorE motors in Vancouver look at a suspension issue, they did a report on it($140). I took that report to Tesla and with that they agreed it would be covered under warranty, saved me about $5000.

2026 Model Y Juniper seats are already starting to crack after only 41,000 kms. Is this something you’d expect be covered under Tesla warranty? Tesla Winnipeg doesn’t think so.. @Tesla

@LhommeDesole It has recently become more of a problem in Vancouver. Copper prices at an all time high. Saw this Level 2 pair made wireless at the Toyota dealership. Apparently they lost a number of catalytic converters off new SUV's also. The Cat strap and dye pack seems like the way to go

@CAHiggins I was at the superchargers in Vegreville last night and all four cables on the two Flo CCS chargers were cut. Second time in the last 12 months, at least.
