Here are a couple formulas I (with MUCH help from Ai) have created to calculate power potential in baseball using basic stats. Which would you think works best? I need to actually gather some stats and try them all (Formulas in comments)

#Raiders officially name Seahawks run game coordinator and senior offensive advisor Rick Dennison as their OL coach, succeeding a much maligned Brennan Carroll. A 4-time Super Bowl champion in his 27-year NFL coaching career, Dennison was a senior offensive assistant with the Saints in 2024, when Klint Kubiak was OC. He was the OL coach and run game coordinator when Kubiak was in Minnesota in 2021. He was the OC in Denver under Gary Kubiak, Klint’s dad, from 2015-16. Last season, he helped Seattle’s run game be among the best in the league, which produced a Super Bowl MVP in Kenneth Walker. He now reunites with Seattle’s OC Kubiak and QB coach Andrew Janocko (now Raiders OC) in Vegas. Dennison also spent 9 seasons as an NFL player (1982–1990) with the Broncos. Now 67, he’s a veteran presence on Kubiak’s young new staff.

@RAKEwBLAKE @JWonCATCHING Happened to us this year. If the pitcher didn’t step off, and this was the pitch that the catcher caught in front of the plate, it’s considered a catchers balk: dead ball, runners advance, hitter is awarded first base.

@JWonCATCHING Catcher can’t catch it in front of the plate or touch the plate. Easy thing here is to hitter stand ground and throw the barrel for automatic catchers interference. It is a balk, dead ball so not sure how they awarded the run.

Another disputed balk/catcher’s interference call at the SEC Baseball Tournament. This one is a little different because the hitter immediately backed out of the batter’s box & had no intent to bunt or swing at the pitch. Not sure that this does not factor into the decision.

@PitchingCoachU After reading some comments, it’s agreed you have to get the athlete to buy in before change. A different angle: could you create buy in by presenting it as a whole new pitch? Don’t say you’re scrapping the ‘old’ one, but maybe they’re open to trying new slider, or a new profile.

One of the toughest decisions is changing a pitch that has had success. Specifically at the pro level. Example: A pitch is having success in low A, but typically doesn’t at the MLB level. Do you proactively change it or do you wait for the pitch to prove it doesn’t work?

Who is the greatest pitcher of all time? Is it Nolan Ryan and his strikeout record? What about Bob Gibson, whose dominance literally caused MLB to lower the mound? We did a deep dive on this question, and came up with our own criteria and rankings. Comment who your 🐐 is.

Take it to the next level, and do some jumping jacks or burpees before hand to your heart rate up, and. Play with different breathing patterns to see what works best for you. Turn that adrenaline into a positive and a productive energy, not one that takes you out of the moment.

Reminder that even if you cannot make it to the gym or have someone to throw with, you can still get better by doing mental reps. Put yourself into those situations so that when they do come up in a game, you know how YOU handle it. You’ve already been there 100 times mentally.
