The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office is inviting community members and the media to a public forum to discuss the future of the Vista Detention Facility. Originally built in 1972 with expansions in 1978 and 1988, the current Vista Detention Facility, located adjacent to the Vista Sheriff's Station and North County Superior Court, is in dire need of replacement and modernization. This forum is an opportunity to hear factual information, understand the current planning process and provide community input on the future modernization of the Vista Detention Facility. Join us on: Tuesday, February 17 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Vista City Hall Complex Morris B. Vance Community Room 200 Civic Center Drive, Vista Parking will be available in the Vista City Hall Complex (click here for more information: sdsheriff.gov/Home/Component…). Sheriff Kelly Martinez will be joined by representatives from the Sheriff's Detention Services Bureau (including the Vista Detention Facility and Sheriff's Reentry Services), the San Diego County Department of General Services (DGS), law enforcement leaders and community reentry experts to inform and answer questions from the public about the need for a new and modern jail in Vista. Media: Sheriff Martinez and other speakers will be available for one-on-one interviews before and after the community forum. This community forum is part of our commitment to transparency by ensuring the public and media are informed about how we strive to provide quality services to people in our custody.

Who remembers when Keith Jackson scored against Nebraska in 1985? Barry Switzer told The Rush the backstory on how the legendary play came to be.

One of the best experiences I’ve had at a professional sporting event … we were sitting so close I could smell their deodorant. Special night with a special friend @mikebeckhamsm … and yes I got a selfie with SGA mid shot in the background

@F5Video @kfor Thanks for posting this. George was a great guy and I was really lucky I got to work with him for a short time in the 90s.

Here’s George Tomek in a story commemorating @kfor Channel 4’s move from the historic Britton Rd. studios to the new facility and his WKY/KTVY days. I enjoyed shooting & editing the piece featuring one of OKC’s genuine broadcast journalists.

RIP George Tomek. When you think of old school TV anchors, he was the guy. Great dry wit and wonderful person. Tried to have me hired out of the market when we were competitors, lol. Got to be good friends later on when we "competed" for free lance gigs. Peace to his family.

No American can afford to ignore this, because today it’s this woman but tomorrow it could be you “I am still very angry. I am numb right now. UnitedHealthcare denied my heart surgery that was scheduled for Friday. Of course they wait until the last minute to do it. There's no way to get an appeal through before then.” “This is messing with my life. It's messing with my livelihood. This is a heart surgery. This is not an elective procedure. This is not something I want to have done, but I need to have it done because it’s already causing major problems. I can't work right now, and it's getting worse. It's not getting any better. — I'm out of loss. I'm very numb and I'm very angry. For profit health insurance is the worst thing ever.” This could be any of us if we don’t get drastic reform of our health insurance industry

@paulkruegersd The City Clerk can give you the rules on when they have to notice a meeting. The Brown Act says 72 hours for a regular meeting.

His refusal to alert the public so interested parties can attend in the meeting in person is a clear violation of the spirit -- if not the letter -- of the state's Open Meeting Act.

@JoeLaCavaD1 refuses to give advance notice of when @SDCityCouncil will re-convene in open session to announce any legal action it takes on the Midway/Pac Hwy height limit. LaCava only says the results will be disclosed sometime after 6 pm, and we can monitor City TV. 1/2
