Starting Friday night through Monday morning, southbound Dexter Ave between Denny Way and 7th Ave will be closed for the construction of a new bus island. The bus stop will be closed during this time. Service will resume at the newly constructed bus stop at the end of the month.

I signed up for the wolly mammoth site (@zpao" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">mastodon.social/@zpao) in case the bird site stops working. Or maybe I'll just be done 🤷‍♂️

Really incredible that historic wallingford really said “yeah, wallingford was an exclusionary neighborhood and those racist policies still impact the community today and we’re celebrating that by making it a historic district.”

@SD70MACMAN @GordonOfSeattle I was just thinking about how if you had enough people crossing at the right interval, you could completely stop traffic. To do so without getting arrested probably requires some kind of permit though...

Every intersection is a legal crosswalk whether marked (with white stripes) or not.

@ericacbarnett It's not like many drivers stop at marked crosswalk either, but some marking, in my experience, improves the likelihood that someone stops!

Let’s talk about the legal problems Elon just created for himself with this cruel new staff email. You’re fired if you don’t commit to long hours at high intensity within 24 hours? Let’s start with disabled workers.

@seattledot How long do those better ways take, on average, and how many requests ultimately end up with a "no changes" outcome?

Improperly painted crosswalks give a false sense of safety which puts pedestrians in danger. There are better ways for people to work w/ us to indicate crossing improvement needs & to make sure changes achieve what is intended -- get people to their destinations safely. (2/2)

We are always interested in working with residents and businesses on ways to make walking safer and more comfortable and will evaluate the intersection to see how we might replace the unauthorized crosswalk. In the meantime, it will have to be removed. (1/2)

Here’s one of the affected employees, who had pushed back on Musk’s tweets blaming performance issues on Twitter’s architecture. “One of the absolute best engineers we had,” one employee tells me. "A legend in her area of expertise.”

Biking in the suburban Bay Area is much nicer than you might expect thanks to routes like Iron Horse Trail/Contra Costa Canal Trail/Stevens Creek Trail. Going places that aren't on those routes becomes a real pain though.

I feel like I bike around SF at an alert level of say 4 and then in the suburbs it's either 1 or 9 depending on whether I'm on one of those trails or defying death on an arterial.

In my view, either of those is a fatal flaw in an eng manager. Or any sort of manager. The manager's job is to create a safe context for workers to get things done for the people the company serves. That means buffering them from upper-management insanity as much as possible.
