The majority of undocumented immigrants are people who overstay their visas, not illegal border crossings. 3. Undocumented immigrants commit crimes at lower rates than US-born citizens. 4. They pay state, local & sales taxes 5. President Reagan supported Amnesty (his word) and argued that open borders allows them return home when they're done working here. 6. "Illegals" is a racist, dehumanizing, otherizing term. If you disagree, see how many other types of lawbreakers FOX News calls "illegals." Can you find any right wing politician or media figure ever specifically using that slur on any white lawbreaker? 7. If politiicians really wanted undocumented immigration to end, they'd start locking up the Americans who hire them. The demand for undocumented labor would swiftly end. There's a giant "Help Wanted" sign at our border and it's not coming down. 8. They don't try to punish people who give jobs to undocumented workers bc fear of Central American & Mexican immigrants and asylum seekers gets massive votes and campaign donations 9. From slavery to Chinese railroad workers to the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory to today's overseas sweatshops, exploited labor by marginalized peoples has always propped up the US economy. 10. Trump hires undocumented people. Going back to the 80s. The same people who exploit undocumented labor exploit fear of the undocumented. He’s the only POTUS to hire “illegals” in 2 different centuries to avoid paying American Workers a living wage. You're being suckered by rich hypocrites. 11. No national Democratic politicians have called for any legislation or policies that could ever lead to "Open Borders." Any politician or media figure who makes that claim is lying. Fortunately, Dems enjoy being punching bags on this issue. 12. They are never going to build a wall across thousands of miles of desert, rivers and forests, private and commercial property, and forcing Americans to give up their land under eminent domain law. 13. The wall will not stop undocumented immigration. Ladders and shovels are things that exist. 14. People who support ICE tactics, or stealing migrant children , are legally still allowed to call themselves Christian. They are not. 15. America has crumbling roads, bridges, public schools, infrastructure and an underfunded VA and they want billions for a scam. 16. Trump promised Mexico would pay for the wall. 17. The majority of voters in 2016, 2020 & 2024 rejected his agenda. There is no mandate. 18. The majority of Americans still oppose him and he is underwater on immigration. 19. Trump did not pay federal taxes and committed tax fraud - to avoid paying the taxes you paid that he now seeks to misuse. 20. Fear of "illegals" is a scam designed to get alarmed FOX news viewers to vote for an agenda centered on more tax cuts for rich people, who don't need more tax cuts.

@catladyactivist I think about this a lot in Year 6. My kids are in HS now. They were in elementary when Covid began. We’ve had 6 years of training, 6 years to normalize precautions, 6 years to change our behavior to meet the moment & protect us in the future. Most people didn’t do this.

People always freely spread their illnesses. The difference was, before Covid, folks DID seem to consider babies, elderly, and vulnerable folks. Not anymore. Covid could have been a lesson in community care. Instead, it was the death of public health.

Wear a mask was govt messaging for about a year. After that, govt messaging has been to take the mask off. Covid didn't become less of a threat. Precautions became a threat to consumerism. I protect my health. You sacrifice years of life for brunch. Who is the sheep? Ain't me.
