@seanasay

Don’t remove my right to choose self catering over hotels which don’t meet the needs of my family group. Support the needs of the little people not corporates

@oldtownrez @PeteWishart @theSNP What rubbish. Just been on the Moray coast. Airbnb owners are raking in £1k a week, and using the profit to do up their property, or buy another one. Never saw so many painters/electricians/joiners vans.

Hi Scotland. That will be the people who keep our NHS together. The people who staff our hospitality and tourism businesses. The people who stop our economy from tanking. This is what Labour's pandering to Farage does.

I've selected an Urgent Question for answer this afternoon. @murdo_fraser will ask @scotgov whether it will clarify its position regarding whether local authorities will be given powers to introduce a visitor levy on a flat charge basis, as an alternative to a percentage.

FANTASTIC NEWS @CllrChasBooth NOT elected - karma - his silence on Fringeship & his awful vendetta against self-catering has been his undoing. @EdinburghGreens @Edinburgh_CC people are seeing the facts & figures for themselves - you've been rumbled! 🥳 going down with Fringeship!

Fancy that. You pillary tourists who decide to dodge your hostility and then despair when your cash cow goes to pastures new… Don’t suppose anyone at Edinburgh council is interested in learning from the errors of others. facebook.com/share/1YcovNTQ…

An ill-founded post from @Ross_Greer hooks in those in dire need of affordable accomodation and the gullible. If he consulted @NatRecordsScot he would find the old town population is booming. Lets stick up for the city visitor economy that supports 32k jobs. @_KateForbes

Short term lets are hollowing out communities like Edinburgh's Old Town. They can also usually get up to 100% off their business rates. I've lodged proposals to disqualify them from these tax breaks. Let them pay & use the money to build more homes. scotsman.com/news/politics/…

Cammy failed the visitor economy. Got the stats completely wrong on extent of self-catering, imposed an unnecessary 'control zone' and then presided over 90% of self catering shutdowns via planning control. @Edinburgh_CC Next leader cant be any worse. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

We need a range of much stronger fines and criminal records for people operating illegal short term lets in Scotland to deter criminal activities, particular for repeat offending. The current fine of £2,500 and be banned from applying for a licence for a year is not enough.

I'm supposed to be on a train to Sarajevo right now, but instead I'm stranded in Mostar until tomorrow because this is what the train line I'm supposed to be on looks like as of 48hrs ago. Experts have attributed these horrendous floods to climate change. (1/3)

You and self catering obviously… You are citing shortages of accomodation and I’m wondering which moral high ground you are occupy? (since last time I checked Newfoundland wasn’t a suburb of Edinburgh?) Note, I have no issues with migration into Edinburgh, being an incomer myself. It’s a desirable place to be. I do however see the irony in those who wish to lift the drawbridge behind them…

Saw a short term let flat being emptied a couple of days ago in Tollcross. Today it’s on the market. Main door flat, looking into the links. Might make a nice family home!

@SRDorman @Monk0131 @PLACEEdinburgh What about the non indigenous moving to Edinburgh and taking homes away from indigenous families. Any thoughts on the pressure that places on availability? Of course not as it would be abhorrent to pillory one specific demand on housing…

@PLACEEdinburgh @SRDorman I thought you said that renters also need homes?. It was an HMO ie a home before and it will be a home again. You need to make your point consistently for it to have any merit.

@PLACEEdinburgh Manchester. Not Edinburgh It’s a condition of the licensicg scheme in Edinburgh that the identity of the guest is known. I know that doesn’t suit your narrative though.. Keep up the good work of undermining your position

At least the owner checked who was renting their short-term let. Most customers of STLs are anonymous, with some not using the property as intended or for criminal activity as in this article, or coming with additional people or pets, impacting neighbours. manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-m…
