BREAKING: Mamdani’s City Council Threatens to Expel Elected Councilwoman Over “Islamaphobic” Posts For the first time in the council's history, an elected official has been charged with ethics violations over protected speech. Councilwoman Vickie Paladino (@VickieforNYC) is potentially facing fines, censure, or even expulsion due to her X posts regarding Islam, according to Councilwoman Paladino’s Att. Jim Walden (@JimforNYC). While allowing other council members to get away with similar, or more inflammatory conduct, Mamdani’s city council is using unprecedented lawfare to encroach upon Paladino’s First Amendment rights. Councilwoman Paladino is now suing the City Council and, regardless of the outcome, this is a classic case of “the process is the punishment.” This story is developing.
