Thank you for answering me. My mother told me also something similar, because she remained in contact with some of her former coworkers. Of course no details, but pretty much the same overall 'big picture'. I really don't know anymore where I belong. In Slovenia I was NEVER accepted - from day ONE onwards I was a stranger, persona non grata even for my teachers. But to go back to Germany would be maybe even worse⁉️ So, I'm being stuck between a rock and a hard place - literally and figuratively.

You would not like Duisburg anymore. A good friend of mine is living there, working for the government in the city council. Ok, there have been some no-go areas for years, like Marxloh. But the overall picture was always a good one. It has changed. And the Ruhrgebiet has been a meltingpot for centuries, so it was never "pure" german. Now it is something different.

I'll write my comment in English although I understand German excellent (I was born, raised and lived in Duisburg, #NRW 🇩🇪, until I was a little more than 6 years old), but my writing skills have become over the years a bit rusty - an understatement. I can just say that the SAME thing is without a shred of any doubt happening in #Slovenia 🇸🇮. I notice this almost every day in Maribor, the 2nd largest city of this small country, where I live now for quite a lot of years. I get the feeling of "déjà vu" also in the capital, Ljubljana. I noticed the same 'phenomenon' even few years back in Graz, #Austria 🇦🇹, where quite a lot of my relatives live(d). And please, don't call me a racist, because this would be a complete 💯 lie. I'm the opposite of that.
