They weren't even counted then. I got 30 goal contributions on my first Liverpool season which ( pundit mode) is fucking AAA class but I felt disappointed because I'd only scored 19 goals versus 22 the season before at Forest. But the reality is was my first Liverpool season was statistically better than my Forest one the season before using goal contributions ( 30 versus 28). So imagine Wirtz or Isak getting 30 goal contributions this season! They'd have a banner on the Kop!!

#LFC 🔴 🚨 Richard Hughes held talks with the representatives of Alex Scott (Bournemouth) back in November/December. The young midfielder is viewed as a potential replacement for Curtis Jones this summer should he depart. With several big clubs interested in Scott, it will be interesting to see how the situation develops.

@LegendEskimoBoy It’s not what they’re seeing….its what they’re hearing. Edwards and Hughes telling them that Slot is the best manager for the club. That the metrics all point to him being perfect for LFC. FSG don’t watch games. They’re more interested in Baseball etc.

In 2005, after nearly eight seasons at Real Madrid, Fernando Morientes leaves the club. The striker joins Rafael Benítez’s Liverpool on a three-and-a-half-year deal. Madrid agreed to the move for €10 million, despite having higher offers on the table from clubs like Olympique Lyon and Newcastle United. The decision was made to respect the player’s wishes. “I’m going to Liverpool, and it wasn’t a decision made in a second. My family and I thought it through a lot. I’m leaving the way I wanted to. I told the club that I wanted to play, I had several offers, and I thought the most interesting one was Liverpool’s. I leave happy, but also sad to leave behind eight years of my life.” Morientes left with nothing but gratitude for Real Madrid, where he won three European Cups after arriving in the 1997–98 season. Arrigo Sacchi later revealed the club had no intention of selling him, but the striker was determined to leave and had already given his word to Liverpool.

🇪🇬👑 Salah, farewell to the heartbeat of a golden era It lands quietly. Then all at once. Mohamed Salah will leave at the end of the season. Not sold. Not eased out. Going on a free, a year still sitting on his contract, value left on the table. We knew, of course, we knew. The tension had been there. The words that didn't quite fit. The distance between player and manager that no result could hide. His fallout with Arne Slot in December felt like a warning. Not the shock. The confirmation. But the timing. That's what jars. No buildup. No slow acceptance. Just a sudden line drawn, on a random Tuesday night, through an era that shaped lives. He gave us moments that felt inevitable and impossible at the same time. The cut inside. The finish. The roar that followed. For years, that was certainty. That was our comfort. There will be numbers attached to him forever. Goals, medals, records. They tell you he was great. They don't tell you what it felt like to watch him. He gave people joy when they needed it. He gave them something to hold on to. And now he goes. They all go. An agreement. A quiet exit. The wages cleared, the books balanced, the future prioritised. Perhaps it's the right call. Football often demands it. Still, it leaves a question hanging in the air. When someone has given you this much, should the ending feel this hollow?

@eddiegibbs It’s blatantly obvious that fitness levels are to blame for all the late goals we concede. After 60-70 mins the legs are gone. Any team with a half decent fitness level runs all over us or through us. The physical tiredness of the last 20 mins causes a mental tiredness.

⚽️ Patience has finally snapped at Anfield #LFC 🆚 #Galatasaray | #UCL #ChampionsLeague This has the unmistakable feel of an ending, not a blip, not a dip, but a slow unravelling that now plays out in full view. Liverpool are not merely struggling, they are a side without urgency, without clarity, without the conviction that once made Anfield a place of dread for visiting teams. The draw with Tottenham has done something deeper than cost two points. It has shifted the mood. Those who preached patience now murmur about change. You can almost hear it echoing around the ground, in that familiar, rueful refrain, (in the booming tones of Adele) ... 'hello from the other side'. The benefit of the doubt has run dry. There is a softness to this team which invites trouble. Opponents don't fear them, they study them, wait for them, and then pick them off. The football is slow, predictable, devoid of invention. Chances are scarce, control is absent, and when pressure builds, Liverpool buckle. Late goals conceded aren't misfortune, they're now an institutional habit. The troubling part is that it all feels coached, or perhaps uncoached, a plan that asks the game to bend rather than shaping it with authority. Players regress, patterns never arrive, and responsibility meanders. Even the language around performances strains credibility against the evidence of the eye. And yet, tonight offers that familiar, dangerous hope. Anfield under lights, a deficit to chase, a season hanging by a thread. Liverpool should have enough to turn this around. They may even do it. But beyond that, harsher truths await. 🔺 Predicted XI: Alisson; Szoboszlai, Konaté, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Wirtz; Salah, Gakpo, Ekitike 🔺 Prediction: Liverpool 3-1 Galatasaray (3-2 agg) - Liverpool progress, PSG await, and likely deliver a brutal reality check

@NotoriousLFC He’ll tell you that he’s played too many minutes and that he’s protecting him from a lifetime of injuries. Probably afraid that he’d lose a leg before he turns 18, loses an arm before he’s 20 and if he plays 90 minutes then he’s guaranteed to lose both his ears before he’s 22.

@eddiegibbs Agree with a lot of this but I’d say the rot set in Feb 2025. Lost to PSG in CL and after that the final to Newcastle. From there on in they just about fell over the line performance wise. It’s been 13 drastic months of utter dross and it’s just getting worse.

🤬 Embarrassing Liverpool Have No Plan Under Slot Strip away the excuses and the reality is brutal. 🔴 Liverpool 1-1 Spurs 📊 xG: Liverpool 1.66, Spurs 1.21. But the numbers almost flatter Liverpool. Tottenham arrived battered by injuries and confidence, a team enduring a dreadful season and barely able to name a proper bench. And yet Liverpool produced something weak, shapeless and embarrassing. This wasn’t bad luck. This wasn’t a tactical battle. This was a side with no attacking identity whatsoever. Because Liverpool today appeared to have one attacking plan. Give the ball to the 17 year old and hope something happens. That’s it! Possession meanders around harmlessly. Midfield passes go nowhere. The forwards look disconnected. Eventually the ball is pushed wide to the teenager and the entire attack waits for his rescue act. That isn’t clever management. It’s tactical bankruptcy. This decline has been obvious since November. Anyone still clinging to last season’s title as proof Arne Slot must be the right man needs to stop pretending. Football doesn’t run on nostalgia. And when a depleted, dreadful Tottenham side can walk into a match like this at Anfield, and leave with a point without ever looking frightened, the conclusion is unavoidable. Liverpool are garbage, and their manager has no clear way to stop them being so.

Arne Slot on Ngumoha: “It's not that we think so far ahead for his career but we have treated him carefully, I have said that before. He cannot be too many days on the pitch because of stress fractures, players at this club have had that, Jayden Danns but Rio can start for us. I said he would get more playing time and we saw that so he is an option to start one of the upcoming three games."

@Corballyred @Craigquinny1875 Player has 12 months left on contract. Has agreed to move to Madrid. Who’s gonna buy him? He’s not going anywhere. He’s just content to wait out the last 12 months and go. If a player has 2.5 - 2 years left on a contract and turns down a new one, then that’s the time to sell.

Konaté to Real Madrid. Most nailed-on transfer ever. Losing him on a free just 1 yr after Trent on a free = total shambles by the club. £160m talent gone for nothing. Konaté bigger loss than most think. Hughes & Edwards are a shambles—hopefully both are gone when their contracts end in 15 mths 👍

We need Szoboszlai on a new long-term contract ASAP. Easier to sign him now than convince him to commit long-term to LFC if we're in Europa League next season. Hughes & Edwards have been a shambles on contracts. Szoboszlai walks into any top European side. His free kicks are ridiculous—yesterday's was Roberto Carlos-esque.
