maybe we should unpack why you think trans men are magically shielded from the experience of growing up as a visibly queer child
Cass 🩷@tShrinkingRae
its important to recognize that trans men were, before transitioning, treated like women/girls, and trans women were, before transitioning, mostly treated like faggots.

@supesbutch (2/2) which would make the distinction between a trans man and a cis woman’s experience less relevant (ex. NLOG phase) But I’m skeptical that’s not equally true for cis men and trans women struggling with masculine expectations as kids
English

@supesbutch (1/2) imo it’s a mix of both and that’s where the distinction between a trans or gnc person and a typical cis person comes from. the real question to me is if female expectations are actually “stricter”, in which case more cis women have “gnc” childhood experiences

everyone is socialized under the patriarchy and misogyny. i think “female socialization, male socialization” is unhelpful terminology, but it’s ignorant to say that trans men, especially ones perceived as women, don’t face unique socialization under the patriarchy and misogyny +
violasses@v1olasses
@plutostraz @karnivor9 a third thing: dysphoric trans men aren't socialized as women and dysphoric trans women aren't socialized as men
